Ranger Body Scanner/Metal Detector (630-3010) Features Faxback Doc. # 34295 1. Power Switch - The power switch turns the unit ON/OFF. When in the forward position unit is "on" - press to back position for "off". To conserve battery life, always make sure unit is OFF when not in use. 2. Audio Alarm - A miniature piezo transducer produces a high pitched sound whenever metal is detected. Using a smooth, even sweep speed, you will note that the alarm is longer in duration for larger objects, and shorter for small objects. 3. Light Alarm - A visible indication is given at the same time as the audio alarm when metal is detected with a red LED indicator. 4. De-Sense Push Button - When in operation, activating the De-Sense by pushing with the thumb reduces sensitivity to metal by about 50%. This feature is invaluable for scanning ankle area on floors which contain large amounts of steel reinforcement. In this manner the scanner will not react strongly to the re-bar, yet will still effectively locate weapons. 5. Low Battery Alert - The Audio Alarm also acts as a low battery indicator. When the battery starts to get low, the Audio Alarm will make a "chirping" sound instead of a smooth steady indicator and the light alarm will blink on and off rapidly when metal is detected; replace the battery as soon as possible. 6. Battery Cover - Two screws hold the battery cover in place. To replace battery, remove the battery cover and carefully dis- connect the old battery. Replace with new alkaline 9V battery (if rechargeable battery is not used) and replace battery cover. Never attempt to re-charge an alkaline battery. Always remove battery if unit will be unused for 30 days or longer. 7. Recharger- Earphone Jack - Located at the bottom of the housing, the recharger earphone jack allows use of a nickel-cadmium rechargeable 9V battery; this same jack also serves as an earphone jack. When the earphone plug is inserted the piezo alarm is silenced and the LCD continues to operate. Use earphone Radio Shack No. 33-175. (LB/EB 08/08/96)
