Using a smooth, even motion. a) Scan down the length of arm. b) Back up inside of arm. c) Then down full length to foot. d) Move to inside of ankle. e) Then back down on the opposite ankle. f) Scan right body side starting at outside of foot and repeating pattern upwards. 4. Scan front torso, including shoulder areas, scan back torso including small of back at belt area. 5. In areas where large amounts of metal re-bar in the floor interfere with scanner operation at ankle level, push the DESENS button while scanning ankle area. SENSITIVITY The Ranger hand scanner has been factory adjusted to optimum sensitivity level for most security screening applications. For specialized applications requiring more, or less, sensitivity the level is adjustable. You will note the right side handle has an 1/8" diameter hole. This hole allows access to an adjustment control inside the housing. Insert the tip of a small screwdriver straight through the hole until it touches the control. Turn slowly until you feel the tip engage the screw- driver slot in the control. Turn the control clockwise (to the right) to increase sensitivity. Turn counterclockwise to decrease sensitivity. The degree of change is variable depending on how far you move the control. Using a test object of desired size, adjust control higher or lower until sensitivity is at level required. (LB/EB 08/08/96)
