Before using your controller, complete these six steps so that it will
work properly.

1.  Decide which electronic device you want to use to turn on the others.
    This will be your control device.

2.  Using a small screwdriver, set the AUTO SWITCH ADJUST control fully
    clockwise.

3.  Plug the controller's power cord into a standard AC outlet.  The red
    SPIKE PROTECTOR indicator lights.

4.  Plug the control device (for example, a clock radio) into the CONTROL
    OUTLET.  Be sure the wattage of your control device does not exceed
    the 480-watt maximum rating for this outlet.

5.  With the control device turned off, plug an incandescent lamp into
    any of the four SWITCHED OUTLETS.  The lamp switch should be turned
    on.  If the lamp lights, turn the AUTO SWITCH ADJUST control
    counterclockwise until the lamp goes out.

6.  Turn on the control device's power switch.  This automatically turns
    on the lamp.  Turning off the control device's power switch turns off
    the lamp.  Unplug the lamp.

NOTE:  If you later change to a different control device, you must repeat
       this setup procedure.
