Follow these steps to play back a video cassette through the camcorder's viewfinder. 1. Set the CAMERA/VCR PLAY switch to PLAY. 2. Press REWIND to rewind the tape to the place you want to begin playback. 3. Press PLAY, and watch the picture in the viewfinder. 4. Insert an earphone or headset with 1/8-inch plug into the EAR jack on top of the camcorder to listen to the sound. The volume level is fixed at an average listening level. 5. If the TV has audio/video input jacks, see "TV Monitor Playback." If the TV does not have audio/video input jacks, see "Standard TV Playback.", (see below). TV Monitor Playback If the TV has audio/video input jacks, follow these steps to play back a video cassette on the TV. (see Faxback Doc. # 18156, Fig. ôAö). 1. Connect the supplied audio/video output cable to the TV's audio/video input jacks. 2. Connect the other end of the audio/video output cable to the camcorder's AV OUT jack. 3. Turn on the TV, and set it to the monitor mode. 4. Complete the steps in "Viewfinder Playback", (see above) to play the video cassette. Standard TV Playback If the TV does not have audio/video input jacks, follow these steps to play back a video cassette on the TV. (See Faxback Doc. # 18156, Fig. ôBö). 1. Disconnect the VHF antenna from the TV. NOTE: You can leave the separate UHF antenna wire connected to the TV. 2. Connect the VHF antenna lead to the RF converter's IN FROM ANT jack. If you have a 75-Ohm coaxial cable, connect it directly to the IN FROM ANT jack. If you have 300-Ohm flat lead, connect it to the 300-Ohm to 75-Ohm antenna adapter, and then connect the adapter to the RF converter's IN FROM ANT jack. 3. Connect the supplied antenna cable to the RF converter's OUT TO TV jack. 4. Connect the antenna cable's other end to the TV's VHF antenna terminal. Use either a coaxial connector or screw terminals; do not use both. 5. Connect the RF converter's cable to the camcorder's AV OUT jack. 6. Turn on the TV, and set it to channel 3 or 4. 7. Set the RF converter's CH3 CH4 switch to match the TV channel you selected. 8. Complete the steps in "Viewfinder Playback", (see above) to play back the video cassette. NOTE: You do not have to disconnect the RF converter when you watch a TV broadcast. If the camcorder is not connected to the TV, or if the camcorder is turned off, the antenna (or cable) signals reach the TV through the RF converter. SPECIAL PLAYBACK FEATURES TRACKING ADJUSTMENT Use the TRACKING buttons to adjust the camcorder for optimum playback of tapes made on other machines. To adjust the tracking for playback of tapes made on the camcorder, eject and reinsert the cassette; or, press both TRACKING buttons at the same time. Then, press FAST-F to search forward or REWIND to search backward. The tape moves approximately three times normal speed in the direction you choose. Press PLAY to return to normal playback speed. During visual search, the sound is muted, and the picture quality is lower than during normal playback. FAST-FORWARD/REWIND When the CAMERA/VCR PLAY switch is set to PLAY, but you are not playing the cassette, pressing FAST-F or REWIND rapidly moves the tape forward or backward. There is no sound or picture. You can use the digital counter to locate a specific position on the tape. See "Digital Counter" and "Digital Counter with Memory.", (see above).
