Moviecorder (160-0804) Duplication Faxback Doc. # 18899 Follow these steps to duplicate one of the home movies from the camcorder to another VCR. (see Faxback Doc. # 18156, Fig. ôCö). NOTE: The camcorder can play back only tapes recorded at the SP (standard play) speed. 1. Unless you want to add to the audio as you copy the tape, set the MIC MIX switch on the bottom of the camcorder to Off. 2. Connect the multi-pin plug of the supplied audio/video output cable to the camcorder's AV OUT jack. 3. Connect the audio/video output cable's yellow plug to the recording VCR's video-in-jack. Connect the white plug to the audio-in-jack. 4. Insert the recorded tape into the camcorder. 5. Insert the blank tape into the VCR. 6. If the VCR has an input select switch, set it for audio/video signals. Then, begin recording on the VCR. 7. Begin playback of the tape from the camcorder. See "TV Playback." (see above). You can monitor the copying on the TV connected to the VCR. See the VCR owner's manual. MICROPHONE MIXING As you copy a tape from the camcorder to another VCR, you can mix the sound recorded on the tape and the sound from the camcorder's microphone (built- in or external) to add commentary or music to the recording's audio. Follow these steps to use the sound mixing feature. 1. Set the MIC MIX switch on the bottom of the camcorder to ON. 2. Complete Steps 2-7 under "Basic Duplication.", (see above). 3. As you watch the playback on the TV, speak into the camcorder's microphone. Your voice (or whatever is picked up by the microphone) is mixed with the original audio from the tape. AUDIO EDIT This feature lets you record a new soundtrack on a pre-recorded tape without erasing the original pictures. When you use audio edit, the old audio is erased and replaced with the new audio. You can replace the sound with sounds picked up by the camcorder's built-in microphone or an optional external microphone. (Be sure nothing is connected to the AV IN jack.) Or, you can use an optional audio/video input cable (CM No. T-16-CH60) to connect another audio source to the camcorder's AV IN jack. (Be sure no external microphone is connected.) You can use the digital counter with memory feature to automatically stop audio edit at the desired point. Follow these steps to use the audio edit feature. 1. Insert the recorded cassette. Be sure the erase-protection tab is in place. 2. Set the CAMERA/VCR PLAY switch to PLAY. 3. Press PLAY and then FAST-F to position the tape immediately before the point where you want to stop the audio edit. Then, press PLAY to find the exact point where you want to stop. 4. Press STILL. 5. Press DISPLAY until the digital counter is displayed in the viewfinder. Then, press RESET/T-160 to reset the counter to 0:00:00. 6. Press COUNTER MEMORY so that M appears in the viewfinder. 7. Rewind the tape past the point where you want to change the sound. Then, press PLAY. When you reach the exact point where you want to begin, press STILL. 8. Press INSERT AUDIO and PLAY at the same time. A. DUB appears in the viewfinder. 9. Press STILL to begin recording the new soundtrack. 10. When the counter reaches 0:00:00, audio edit automatically stops. Press STOP to manually stop audio edit. VIDEO EDIT This feature lets you record new pictures on a previously recorded tape without erasing the original soundtrack. When you use video edit, the old video is erased and replaced with the new video. You can replace the picture with any picture you view through the viewfinder. This can be a subject you view through the camcorder's lens. Or, you can use an optional audio/video input cable (CM No. T16-CH60) to connect another video source to the camcorder's AV IN jack. Follow these steps to use the video edit feature. 1. Insert the recorded cassette. Be sure the erase-protection tab is in place 2. Set the CAMERA/VCR PLAY switch to PLAY. 3. Use visual search to locate the position on the tape where you want to stop the video edit. Then, press STILL. See "Visual Search.", (see above). 4. Press DISPLAY until the digital counter is displayed in the viewfinder. Then, press RESET/T-160 to reset the counter to 0:00:00. 5. Press COUNTER MEMORY so that M appears in the viewfinder. 6. Rewind the tape past the point where you want to change the picture. Then, press PLAY. When you reach the exact position where you want to begin, press STILL. 7. Press INSERT VIDEO and PLAY at the same time. V.DUB appears in the Viewfinder along with the new picture. 8. Press STILL to begin recording the new picture. 9. When the counter reaches 0:00:00, video edit automatically stops. Press STOP to manually stop video edit. (EB/all-02/06/96)
