Deluxe DSS System (160-2530) Getting Started Faxback Doc. # 19686 WHAT'S IN THE DSS DISH CARTON? The DSS dish carton contains the following parts: * mounting foot assembly and mast * dish (or reflector) * LNB (Low Noise Blocker) converter * LNB support arm assembly & hardware packet ASSEMBLING THE DISH The bolts you need to assemble the dish are in the plastic packet that came in the DSS dish carton. As you handle the dish parts, avoid scratching the surface. Scratches can damage the protective surface. Most of the dish parts were preassembled for you at the factory. You will be given detailed instructions in this guide for any required assembly. Attaching the Dish to the LNB Support Arm 1. Locate the hardware packet that came with DSS dish. 2. Press the mounting bracket of the LNB support arm to the back of the dish, matching the four square holes on the bracket to the bolts on the back of the dish. 3. Lightly screw a washer and a self-locking nut on the portion of the screw that sticks through the back of the dish and mounting bracket. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for the remaining bolts on the dish. 5. Tighten the four self-locking nuts. Materials You Will Need During the Installation When you install you DSS dish, you will need the following materials. You can purchase the materials you need from any authorized DSS dealer, or your local electronics supplier or hardware store. * Coaxial Cable You will need RG-6 coaxial cable with weatherproof "F" connectors at both ends to * connect the LNB to the grounding block * connect the grounding block to the DSS receiver. If you route the coaxial cable through an interior wall and install a coaxial cable wall plate, you will need an additional piece of coaxial cable to connect the coaxial cable connector on the wall plate to the DSS receiver. * Ground Wire You will need #8 aluminum or #10 copper ground wire to * connect the grounding block to a ground rod * connect the ground bolt on the dish to a ground rod. Note: Do not splice ground wire. Purchase the correct length for each application. * Grounding Block You will need a grounding block to ground the coaxial cable. TOOLS YOU WILL NEED DURING THE INSTALLATION To install the DSS dish, you will need the following tools. * 7/16" and 1/2" open-end wrench. You can use an adjustable wrench, ratchet tool with 7/16" and 1/2" sockets, or a hex nut tool. Do not use any type of pliers. The teeth of the pliers may damage the protective surface of the dish parts. * plumb line or bubble level. A plumb line is a piece of string, at least 2 feet long, with a small lead weight, a heavy nut or a bolt tied to one end. * electric drill and drill bits * pencil * screwdrivers (phillips and flat-head) * compass.
