VU-210XR Antenna (150-2157) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 3922 Prepare the antenna for installation as follows: 1. Grasp each element near its pivot point and unfold or turn it so it locks into place. 2. Assemble the two wing boom brackets to the hole in the main boom, located behind the folded UHF dipole. Attach using screw and wing nut supplied. Then, insert the wing booms into the bracket and secure with screws and wing nuts supplied. 3. Use the supplied hardware to assemble the two antenna sections. 4. Use the supplied hardware to secure the ends of the crossover wires to the rivets maintaining the crossover pattern. 5. Use the supplied hardware to loosely attach one of the supplied mast clamp assemblies to the antenna's main boom. 6. Loosely attach the other mast clamp assembly to the cradle boom. Then attach the H-blocks to the cradle boom. 7. Insert the supplied end plugs into the ends of the cradle boom and each antenna boom. 8. Fold out the two halves of the UHF dipole until they lock into place. (They should be at right angles to the main boom. NOTE: Both sections of the isolation network should remain parallel to the main boom. 9. Place the free end of each half of the UHF dipole over the corresponding threaded lead-in terminal. ATTACHING TO THE MAST Attach the cradle boom and antenna to the mast as follows. CAUTION: The crossover wires must not touch the antenna boom, the mast, or each other. If necessary, carefully bend the crossover wires to provide at least 1/2 inch clearance. 1. Slide the cradle boom's mast clamp assembly over the end of the mast to about 10 inches from the top of the mast. The tighten the nuts enough to hold the cradle boom in place. 2. Snap the antenna's main boom into the cradle boom's H-blocks. Then tighten the mast clamp assembly's nuts enough to hold the antenna in place. 3. Position the antenna so the shorter elements point toward the stations you want to receive. 4. Tighten the nuts for both mast clamp assemblies, but do not over tighten. 5. If you install an antenna rotator, follow its instruction sheet for positioning the antenna. (ALL-01/05/95)
