Your Optimus Model 161 MovieCorder 8 mm Video Camera Recorder/Player with
LCD Color Monitor enhances your home video enjoyment and allows you to
capture those special moments. Its technologically advanced design includes
a color monitor and built-in speaker, so you can immediately play back and
view your recording or even watch as you record yourself in a scene.

You can also use the camcorder as a VCR to play back a tape on a TV/monitor
or to copy a tape to another VCR.

This camcorder has many special features that make operation simple,
convenient, and versatile.  Be sure to read this manual carefully and
completely so you can understand and enjoy all the features of your
camcorder.  Some of those features are:

Variable Angle Shooting and - lets you enjoy recording in a variety of
Instant Replay                positions and instantly view the results on
                              the built-in monitor.

         1/4-Inch CCD Image - provides a clear, high-resolution picture,
                              even in low-light conditions (down to 4 lux).

8 X 2-Speed Power Zoom Lens - lets you go smoothly from wide angle to
                              telephoto shots at the touch of a button.
                              You can use most standard 37 mm photographic
                              filters.

 Scene Menus for 4 Shooting - provide automatic exposure, white balance,
 Situations                   and shutter speed settings for four specific
                              types of shooting situations.

     Hi-Fi Monaural Speaker - lets you hear the sound from the tape.

                    Gain Up - lets you adjust for low lighting situations.

            Fully Auto Mode - lets you easily record high-quality pictures
                              with automatic settings for focus, white
                              balance, exposure, and shutter speed.

     On-Screen Menu Display - makes it easy to use the camcorder's controls
                              and adjust its settings.

   Clock/Calendar Character - lets you display the time and date on the
   Generator                   monitor and record this information on the
                               tape.

    Infrared Remote Control - provides remote access to the tape motion
                              controls.

                Edit Search - lets you search for a segment on the tape
                              without changing from the camera mode to the
                              VCR mode.

               Quick Return - after playback, lets you quickly return to
                              the end of the last recorded segment so you
                              can resume recording from that point.

        Built-in microphone - records audio during video recording.

          Auto Head Cleaner - prevents dirt from accumulating on the video
                              head when you insert a cassette tape or press
                              EJECT.

         Warning Indicators - appear on the monitor to alert you to certain
                              conditions.

            3 Power Sources - let you power the camcorder from battery
                              power, AC power, or a vehicle's battery.

NOTES:  The camcorder is designed to expand your possibilities for in-home
        video recording and playback.  Do not use it in any way that might
        violate copyright laws.

        Your camcorder is designed to record and play in the SP mode only.
        It does not perform normal playback for programs recorded in LP
        mode.

        Some VCRs have the capability to record digital audio signals using
        Pulse-Code Modulation (PCM).  The Model 161 cannot reproduce/record
        this type of audio signal.
