There might be some picture noise during visual search or still picture playback. This is normal and is not a malfunction. Precautions: Use the optional RF converter only with this camcorder. If the antenna wire is a 75-ohm coaxial cable, plug it directly into the RF converter's IN FROM ANT terminal. 4. EDITING Video editing lets you refine your videos by removing unwanted sequences from your tape or by replacing one sequence with another. The built-in monitor makes editing easy because you can use the camcorder as the playback VCR and watch the source program as you edit, without having to connect the camcorder to a TV (and/or disconnect your VCR from the TV). Simply connect the camcorder's AUDIO/VIDEO jack to a VCR's audio/video input jacks using the supplied audio/video cable (as described in "Connection to a TV through a VCR", above) and watch the edited recording on the TV connected to the VCR. To replace one video sequence with another on your VCR: 1. Play back the tape you want to edit on the VCR, and locate the section you want to record over. Make a note of the counter readings for the beginning and end of that sequence, and then rewind the tape to a point just before the sequence begins. 2. Set the camcorder's power switch to VCR. 3. Locate the sequence on the camcorder that you want to use as the replacement recording, and cue the tape to a point just before the sequence begins. 4. Begin playback on the recording VCR, and press the VCR's pause/still button when you reach the beginning of the sequence you want to replace. 5. Press PLAY (>) on the camcorder. Then immediately press the VCR's record button to start recording. NOTE: Make sure you press the pause/still and PLAY buttons at exactly the right moments. Otherwise, the transition between edited sequences might be slightly off. 6. When the VCR reaches the end of the sequence you want to replace, press the VCR's stop button to stop recording. 7. Press STOP ( [] ) on the camcorder to stop playback. USING THE OPTIONAL AV PACK You can use the optional AV pack's AUDIO/VIDEO jacks for dubbing the same way as you use the camcorder's AUDIO/VIDEO jack. In addition, you can connect an external video source to the AV pack's MONITOR IN jack and use the camcorder to monitor the picture. You cannot use the MONITOR IN jack for dubbing. NOTES: The images from the AV pack's MONITOR IN jack have precedence over other video playback and the image from the camera lens. Therefore, disconnect the MONITOR IN jack during recording or when you watch playback on a TV. When you connect to both the camcorder's AUDIO/VIDEO jack and the AUDIO/VIDEO jacks on the AV pack, the camcorder's jack has priority. (EB 4/4/96)
