Pocketvision-27 Color TV (160-0164) Operation Faxback Doc. # 31872 USING YOUR TV 1. Extend the rod antenna. 2. Set the function selector to VHF or UHF. The TV automatically starts scanning and stops at the next active channel in the selected band. 3. Press TUNING < or > to tune to a different channel. The tuning line on the screen aligns with the selected channel number below the screen. 4. Adjust VOLUME for a comfortable listening level. 5. Adjust the antenna for the best reception. 6. Adjust the BRIGHT for the desired brightness. The brightness also changes with the screen's angle. 7. Turn ADJUST for the best color. NOTES: Press CH CALL to recall the tuning line on the display. If desired, fold out the stand on the back of the TV and lean the TV on a flat surface for a convenient viewing angle. If reception is poor, try adjusting the rod antenna. For some stations, adjusting the length of the antenna provides slightly better reception. If you are inside a metal or concrete building, moving closer to a window might improve reception. If you still have problems, you probably need an external outdoor antenna. See "Connecting an External Antenna." BACKLIGHT In low temperatures, the TV screen takes a few seconds to light, or it might be slightly red in color. This is not a malfunction. Normal operation resumes after a short while. USING AN EARPHONE For private listening, connect an optional earphone with a 1/8-inch plug to the PHONE jack. This mutes the built-in speaker. LISTENING SAFETY When using earphones, set the volume to the lowest setting before you begin listening. After you begin listening, adjust the volume to a comfortable level. Do not listen at extremely high volume levels. Extended high volume listening can lead to permanent hearing loss. TRAFFIC SAFETY Do not wear the earphone while operating a motor vehicle or riding a bicycle. This can cause a traffic hazard and is illegal in some areas. CONNECTING AN EXTERNAL ANTENNA If you are in an area with weak TV signals or inside a metal or concrete building, you might need an external outdoor antenna to improve reception. Connect the antenna to the EXT ANT jack. If your antenna wire is 75-ohm coaxial cable, use an F-to-miniplug adapter to complete the connection. If you have 300-ohm wire, use a 300-to-75-ohm miniplug adapter. These items are available at your local Radio Shack store. CONNECTING TO A CHANNEL 3/4 OUTPUT You can use the EXT ANT jack to connect a camcorder, VCR, video disc player, or other audio/video component that has a Channel 3-4 output terminal. Your local Radio Shack store sells the accessories you need for this connection. (EB 3/21/96)
