Video Guide User's Manual (150-1980) Recording Faxback Doc. # 33504 Recording with VideoGuide VideoGuide allows you to record a show "Once" or "Regularly." Once: means record the show the selected time only. Regularly: means record the show each and every time the show is on the selected channel at the selected time. For example, regularly may mean five times a week for a daily talk show, once a week for a weekly sitcom, or once a weekend for a Sunday morning news program. VideoGuide knows when the shows are on. IMPORTANT!: Your VCR must be turned OFF to record a show. VideoGuide will automatically turn on your VCR when necessary. How to Record a show "Once." 1. Select a program you wish to record by highlighting its tile in any Program Guide or Program Views format or by highlighting a televised game tile in Sports Guide. 2. Press the LEFT ACTION button. That's it - you've set the show to record one time. (You will see the tile turn red indicating the show is set to record. The information Box will turn green "confirming" the selected recording.) TIP: VideoGuide records "scheduled" time slots. When recording a show that might run over its usual time slot (such as a game that may run into overtime) set the following show to record as well. How to Record shows "Regularly." 1. First select a show to record Once as outlined above. 2. While on the show's tile (now turned red) press the LEFT ACTION button (note that it is now labeled "Record List" in the banner). This will take you to the Record List. 3. In the Record List, select the show you wish to record Regularly by moving the JOYSTICK up or down. Once on the desired show, move the is now set to record Regularly. (Moving the JOYSTICK back to the left JOYSTICK to the right to change the frequency to "Regularly." The show will return the show recording frequency to "Once.") 4. To leave the Record List, press the LEFT ACTION button (labeled "Done") to return to the service from which the recording selection was made. Or, press the GUIDE button to go to the Video Guide Menu. NOTE: VideoGuide uses its own clock to start and stop recordings; so even if your VCR clock is blinking "12:00," VideoGuide will record correctly. Recording a show in progress. To record a show in progress, simply select the show tile and press the LEFT ACTION button. The recording will begin immediately. Recording with VideoGuide 1. Select a show to record by highlighting it in Program Guide, Program Views or Sports Guide. 2. Press the LEFT ACTION bottom to record "Once." Press the LEFT ACTION button again to go to the Record List to cancel or record "Regularly." 3. The information Box turns green to confirm recording selection. TIP: Canceling a Recording: Go to the Record List, select the show you wish to cancel and press the RIGHT ACTION button (labeled "Remove" in the banner). Removing a show cancels it from being recorded. This also stops a recording in progress. 1. Select a show, and move the JOYSTICK to the left or right to select the desired recording frequency, "Once" or "Regularly." 2. Press the LEFT ACTION button (labeled "Done") or press the GUIDE button to exit the Record List. 3. Press the RIGHT ACTION button to Remove a show from the Record List. This will cancel the recording or stop a recording in progress. Entering the Record List: Press the LEFT ACTION button from the tile of a show already selected to record (the tile will be red). Or, select the Record List tile from the VideoGuide Menu and press the Guide button. TIP: The Record List indicates how much tape you need for the next 24 hours. (LB/EB 06/03/96)
