Video Guide User's Manual (150-1980) Setup "A" Faxback Doc. # 33505 Setup Configurations (from Setup Sheet step 3) These configurations follow from step 3 of the Setup Sheet. Please refer to the setup Sheet for complete information on how to set up your Video Guide. The equipment configurations below are examples of those most commonly used. Use configuration A or B if you do not use a cable box because you use an antenna OR you receive cable TV service without a cable box. Use configuration C or D if you do use a cable box. If you do not use a cable box and you have... A... only a TV (See Faxback Doc. # 33515, Fig. "A"). 1. Unplug the cable that is currently plugged into the antenna/cable input of your TV and plug it into the input on the video switch. 2. Plug the SHORT video switch cord into the antenna/cable input of your TV. 3. Plug the LONG video switch cord into the VideoGuide receiver. B...a TV & VCR (See Faxback Doc. # 33515, Fig. "B"). 1. Unplug the cable that is currently plugged into the antenna/cable input of your TV and plug it into the input on the video switch. 2. Plug the SHORT video switch cord into the antenna/cable input of your TV. 3. Plug the LONG video switch cord into the VideoGuide receiver. VideoGuide should now be connected "between" your VCR and TV. Setup Configurations (from Setup Sheet step 3) If you use a cable box and you have... C...only a TV (See Faxback Doc. # 33516,Fig."A"). 1. Unplug the cable that is currently plugged into the antenna/cable input of your TV and plug it into the input on the video switch. 2. Plug the SHORT video switch cord into the antenna/cable input of your TV. 3. Plug the LONG video switch cord into the VideoGuide receiver. D...a TV & VCR (See Faxback Doc. # 33516, Fig. "B"). 1. Unplug the cable that is currently plugged into the antenna/cable input of your TV and plug it into the input on the video switch. 2. Plug the SHORT video switch cord into the antenna/cable input of your TV. 3. Plug the LONG video switch cord into the VideoGuide receiver. VideoGuide should now be connected "between" your VCR and TV. Changing Setup Settings You may wish to change your setup settings for a variety of reasons. You may have moved to a new ZIP Code, bought a new TV or VCR, connected or disconnected a cable box, dropped or added cable service or made an error during the initial setup. ! Important Note: Anytime you change your ZIP Code, cable service, cable box, or cable remote settings, the TV listing information in Program Guide and Program Views is discarded. You must wait overnight for new information. How to change your setup settings: 1. Move the JOYSTICK up or down to select the Setup tile in the Video Guide Menu. 2. Move the JOYSTICK left or right to select the small "Setup" tile. 3. Press the GUIDE button on the VideoGuide remote. 4. You are now in the setup section. Change the settings you wish. (See the table below for guidance.) TIP: While going through the setup screens, you may skip over settings that do not need to be changed by pressing the RIGHT ACTION button, labeled "Continue" in the banner. Setup Options - special settings The Setup "Options" Screen VideoGuide provides the setup "Options" screen to allow setup adjustments for people with less common equipment configurations. The setup "Options" screen also allows you to modify some VideoGuide functions. From the "Options" screen you may: 1. Choose to control channel changing while you watch TV using your VCR or TV. 2. Choose to control channel changing when you record using your VCR or cable box. 3. Choose an alternate piece of equipment from which to control the volume (for example, through your remote controlled stereo). Once you select "On," another setup screen appears requesting information about the equipment's remote. 4. Choose to turn the VideoGuide sound effects on or off. 5. Modify the remote control delay time. This adjustment is used if you find VideoGuide "drops" part of a channel number when you select a show from Program Guide or Program Views. For example, if you select a show that is on channel 12 and VideoGuide changes your TV to channel "1" or "2" select the "Slow" Remote Delay setting. Otherwise leave it on "Normal." 6. Choose on which channel you would like VideoGuide to be displayed, channel 3 or 4. (Use channel 4 if you have a strong broadcast channel 3 in your area.) How to enter the "Options" setup screen: 1. Move the JOYSTICK up or down to select the Setup tile in the Video Guide Menu. 2. Move the JOYSTICK right or left to select the small "Options" tile. 3. Press the GUIDE button on the Video Guide remote. 4. You are now on the setup "Options" screen. Change the settings you wish. When done, press the GUIDE button to return to the Video Guide Menu.
