SR-2015 Home Satellite Television System Receiver (160-2513) Preparation, VideoPal Faxback Doc. # 34196 VideoPal AUTHORIZATION To authorize your VideoPal service, do the following: 1. Ensure the module is properly connected to the telephone line as explained on Faxback Doc. # 34195. The module must be connected to the telephone line for pay-per-view authorization. 2. Tune to a VideoCipher scrambled channel and verify proper signal strength. NOTE: To verify signal strength, press SET UP, 1, 1. The Signal Quality must be greater than 60. If this value is less than 60, you might experience difficulty authorizing the module. If necessary, adjust the dish alignment or receiver tuning to improve the signal. 3. Call the VideoPal program service (or call the Satellite Video Center at 1-800-548-4336). A customer service representative will assist you in setting up your VideoPal account. The module is authorized for pay-per-view when Line 6 on the INSTALLATION DATA screen indicates VideoPal enabled. VideoPal SETUP When your VideoPal service is authorized, set up the user selectable Video Pal features as follows: Press SET UP 1 to access the VideoCipher Unit Set up menu. NOTE: Items 5, 6, 7, and 8 on this menu apply to VideoPal operation and billing. Items 1 through 4 affect all VideoCipher programming and were explained in "VideoCipher Module Operation", on Faxback Doc. # 34194. Purchase Password This feature allows you to limit access to VideoPal programming by setting a security password. This feature is for customer convenience, but is not required. However, we strongly suggest that you use a password to prevent unauthorized pay-per-view purchases. When you make a purchase, you are asked to enter the password. Setting a Purchase Password - To set your VideoPal purchase password, do the following: 1. From the VideoCipher Unit Setup menu press 5 to access the Set Purchase Password screen. 2. Enter an easy-to-remember number of up to eight digits. NOTE: The VideoPal password can be the same as your VCRS password. The screen displays an asterisk (*) for each number you enter. 3. Press ENTER. 4. When the display asks you to enter your new password again for confirmation, enter the same number and press ENTER. Your new Purchase Password is stored. Press HELP for further information about the SET PURCHASE PASSWORD screen. Press VIEW to leave this screen and resume normal viewing. Changing the Purchase Password - To change your VideoPal purchase password, press SET UP, 1, 5 to select the SET PURCHASE PASSWORD screen. Then follow the directions on your screen. Removing the Purchase Password - If you want to remove your VideoPal purchase password, do the following: CAUTION: You should not leave access to VideoPal programming unprotected. 1. Press SET UP, 1, 5 to select the SET PURCHASE PASSWORD screen. 2. Enter your existing password and press ENTER. 3. Press ENTER two more times to remove your purchase password. Press VIEW to resume normal viewing. NOTE: If you forget your password, call your pay-per-view program provider or the Satellite Video Center at 800-54-VIDEO. They can remove the password for you. This removes the purchase password and the rating password; you must re-enter both. There might be a charge for a password removal. Purchase History This screen allows you to review the 16 most recent programs purchased through VideoPal. From the VideoCipher Unit Setup menu, press 6 to view the PURCHASE HISTORY screen. Use your remote control's /\ and \/ keys to scroll through all 16 purchases Press HELP for additional information on the PURCHASE HISTORY screen. Press VIEW to leave this screen and resume normal viewing. NOTE: If you have not purchased any VideoPal programs, "No program purchases recorded" appears at the bottom of the VideoCipher Unit Setup menu. Credit Information From the VideoCipher Unit Setup menu press 7 to view the CREDIT INFORMATION screen. The Satellite Video Center or a VideoPal service might ask you to read this screen if your VideoPal service is interrupted. You cannot access this screen if you have not authorized the VideoPal feature. The credit amount shown at the top of the screen is for administrative purposes only. The last line indicates whether or not you have established an account to purchase programs with the Satellite Video Center. Press HELP for additional information about the CREDIT INFORMATION screen. Press ENTER to return to the VideoCipher Unit Setup menu. Press VIEW to leave this screen and resume normal viewing. Reportback Status From the VideoCipher Unit Setup menu, press 8 to view the REPORTBACK STATUS screen. Periodically, the VideoPal feature reports your pay-per-view purchases to a toll-free 800 number. This screen displays whether or not the last report- back attempt was successful. The screen should always display SUCCESSFUL. If this screen displays anything else, check the VideoPal telephone connection and contact the Satellite Video Center at 1-800-54-VIDEO. Press HELP for additional information about the REPORTBACK STATUS screen. Press ENTER to return to the VideoCipher Unit Set up menu. Press VIEW to leave this screen and resume normal viewing.
