SR-2015 Home Satellite Television System Receiver (160-2513) Installation, VideoCipher Faxback Doc. # 34199 INSTALLING A VideoCipher MODULE Follow these steps to install a VideoCipher module: 1. Remove the two screws from the module compartment cover, and lift off the cover. 2. Slide the module into its compartment until it snaps into place. 3. Replace the compartment cover and screws. SR-2015 COMPATIBILITY FEATURES Your Radio Shack SR-2015 Satellite Receiver is specifically designed for optimum performance when used with the complete Radio Shack 5-foot Satellite Dish System. However, we have included optional features that make your receiver compatible with other types of satellite systems. POLARITY SERVO-MOTOR CONTROL The GND, PULSE, and 6VDC terminals on the back of the receiver are intended for use with feedhorns that use a servo-motor to select the polarity. The SR-2015's smart circuitry prolongs the life of the servo-motor by limiting the distance the probe can travel. If the proper polarity is not indicated (odd channels vertical on a Telstar satellite or odd channels horizontal on a Galaxy satellite), press POL on the remote control to select the proper polarity. SKEW ADJUSTMENT The skew adjustment is related to servo-motor polarity devices. Skew is the fine tuning of the polarity setting. If the picture is recognizable but snowy, adjusting the skew might improve reception. NOTE: If the picture is recognizable for just a moment when you change channels, you have probably chosen the wrong polarity (horizontal or vertical). VERTICAL/HORIZONTAL AND C-/Ku-BAND SWITCHING Dual LNBs for a single band (C or Ku) are used with multiple satellite receivers to allow selection among all the channels from a particular satellite. If you have dual C-band LNBs and two or more satellite receivers, each satellite receiver has access to all 24-channels from the current satellite. With a single LNB, each receiver has access to only 12 channels (odd or even). The SR-2015's V/H C/Ku terminal can control an external switch that selects the channel from one LNB or the other. Or, if you install a C-band LNB and a Ku-band LNB, you can use this same terminal to select between bands. The function of the terminal (horizontal/vertical or C/Ku) is controlled by the setting of the V/H C/Ku switch. For either type of switching, you should select an external switch that is controlled by switching between 0-volts DC and 12-volts DC. EXTERNAL DESCRAMBLERS The COMP OUT jack and the DEEMP/FLAT switch allow you to connect external descramblers to the SR-2015. Read the descrambler installation manual for detailed instructions. EXTERNAL VideoPal MODULES If you have an older VideoCipher module and want to access VideoPal services, you might have to use an external VideoPal module. The SR-2015's IPPV jack provides a connection for such a module. EXTERNAL DATA DEVICES The DATA jack allows you to connect special data equipment. Contact your local Radio Shack store for more information. MULTI-LNB SATELLITE SYSTEMS The drawings on Faxback Doc. # 34206 show typical multi-LNB satellite systems. The first system, (see Fig. A) has one C-band LNB and one Ku-band LNB. The second drawing, (see Fig. B) shows a system with two C-band (or two Ku- band) LNBs.
