To use visual search, begin regular playback of a tape. Then press FAST-F to search forward or REWIND to search in reverse. The VCR plays the tape at a fast speed so you can watch it to find the desired tape location. Press PLAY to resume normal playback. For tapes recorded at EP speed, the search speed is 27 times faster than the normal playback speed; for tapes recorded at the LP speed, the search speed is 17 times faster; and for tapes recorded at the SP speed, the search speed is 9 times faster. During visual search, the VCR mutes the sound and the picture quality is lower than during normal playback. However, the search picture is best with tapes recorded at the SP or LP speed. AUTOMATIC PLAYBACK, REWIND, AND EJECT When you load a cassette with its erase-protection tab removed, playback automatically begins. When a tape reaches the end during normal recording, playback, or fast forward, the VCR automatically rewinds to the beginning of the tape and ejects the cassette. If the memory function is activated, the tape stops at 0:00:00 on the display but does not eject.
