Citizen PROjet II (260-2957) Ink Jet Print Head Faxback Doc. # 14690

The print head consists of an outer casing (1), with the nozzles and
electrical contacts, and a replaceable ink cartridge (2) which fits
inside the outer casing and is held in place by the ring (3).

Ink Jet Print Head Insertion

The ink jet print head consists of two parts: the print head casing and
the ink cartridge which can be replaced. The print head has an "ink detection" sensor which guarantees optimum printing quality by allowing
the timely replacement of the ink cartridge.

To insert the print head:

Open the top cover of the printer.

Push the print head carriage to the extreme right-hand side of its
shaft. Make sure the carriage path is free.

Open the sealed print head container and remove the protective cover.

Remove the print head from its container, holding it by the easing (the
area at the opposite end from the protective film).

CAUTION: Do not touch the electrical contacts or set the print head on
          them.

Still holding the print head easing, remove the protective film,
pulling its tab end in the direction indicated by the arrow.

CAUTION: Do not touch the printing nozzle or set the print head on it.

With the electrical contacts towards the front of the printer, insert
the print head in its chamber, pushing it down and then forwards to fix
    it in place.

Make sure the print head "clicks" into place when it is inserted and
again when it is fixed correctly. If necessary, repeat the insertion
operation (see the next section on how to remove the ink jet print
    head).

    Close the top cover.

If you have problems inserting the print head:

Make sure the print head carriage is at the extreme right-hand margin.

Check that the print head chamber is clean and free of foreign matter.

NEVER force the print head into the chamber.

CAUTION: If you have problems when inserting the print head, always
remove it completely and repeat the entire insertion operation.

Ink Jet Print Head Removal

The ink jet print head is removed either to replace it (see also the
section entitled "Ink Jet Print Head Insertion" and also the sections
entitled "Changing the Ink Jet Print Head" and "Ink Cartridge Replacement") or to repeat its insertion, in the case of faulty printing.

WARNING: When the printer is already switched on and a print operation is
running, press the ON LINE key to interrupt printing and stop
the print head carriage movement BEFORE opening the front cover.

To return the printer to operating status, close the front cover
and press the ON LINE key.

With the top cover open, push the print head carriage to the extreme
right-hand margin.

Push the entire print head towards the rear of the printer and pull it
upwards, holding it by its casing.
