To assure the longest possible print head life, follow these suggestions:

1.  When the ON LINE LED indicates the Ink Cartridge is empty (flashing),
    change the Ink Cartridge immediately.  Running the printer with
    insufficient ink can shorten the life of the print head.

2.  When changing the Ink Cartridge, remove only the Ink Cartridge.  It is
    not necessary to remove the print head until it is time to change the
    print head.

3.  Don't be afraid to use the printer as much and as often as you need.
    The print head will actually last longer when used regularly.  Long
    periods of inactivity can cause the ink to congeal in the nozzles
    of the print head making it strain to produce ink droplets.
