Graffiti Reference Card (250-3116) Installation Faxback Doc. # 14963 Requirements: A PC- compatible computer is used to install Graffiti onto the PDA. The following is required to install Graffiti: A PC to PDA serial null-modem cable (PalmConnect cable, Casio SB-82, or Radio Shack #25-3101) An IBM, or 100% compatible PC/AT personal computer MS-DOS 3.3 or higher 640K of RAM memory A 3.5 inch diskette drive (other diskette sizes are available on request) One available serial (COM) port Procedure Once you have determined that there is sufficient free memory available in your PDA and have connected the null-modem cable, you are ready to install the Graffiti software. If the available memory space is limited, you may choose to omit Graffiti's Tutorial or Online Help software components. The Installer program gives you the flexibility to install any combination of Graffiti software components. IMPORTANT: To prevent the possibility of running out of power during the installation, you should install new battereies in your PDA before you begin. To install the Graffiti software onto your PDA: 1. Boot your PC, and turn on your PDA. 2. Insert the Graffiti software diskette into a disk drive on your PC. 3. At the DOS prompt, type a:install (or b:install, depending on the location of your disk drive), and then press the Enter key. 4. In a moment, the Installation start up screen will appear. 5. Press the Enter key on the keyboard to continue. 6. Detailed instructions will appear on screen for each step of the installation procedure. 7. When the installation is complete, the Installation start up screen will appear, with the Exit option highlighted. Press the Enter key on the keyboard to exit the Installer. 8. Press either the A or B button on the PDA. Note that the screen of the PDA will remain blank for about a minute as the new software is loaded for use. When the screen on the PDA reappears, Graffiti installation is complete. (TE/all-04/26/95)
