Graffiti Reference Card (250-3116) Memory Faxback Doc. # 14964 Requirements: Before you install Graffiti onto your PDA, you must confirm that there is adequate free space available for all the Graffiti software components. The following table lists the software components that make up the complete Graffiti package, and the approximate memory requirements for each component: Graffiti Recognizer 60,000 bytes Graffiti Help 40,000 bytes Graffiti Tutorial 65,000 bytes Total 175,000 bytes IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to install the Graffiti software onto a PDA drive that does not have sufficient free space available. Remember to leave enough space for growth in your data files (at least 50K is recommended). If the available memory space is limited, you may choose to omit Graffiti's Tutorial or Online Help components. You may also choose to install the Graffiti Tutorial alone so that you can learn how to use Graffiti, and then uninstall it to create space for the Graffiti Recognizer. NOTE: The Graffiti Recognizer must be installed on the internal storage, or on a PCMCIA storage card. To check the amount of free space available on your PDA or PCMCIA storage card: 1. Start the PDA, and tap on the Launcher icon. 2. In the menu that appears, tap on Utilities, and then tap on the File Manager utility. 3. Next, tap on the drive icon at the bottom of the screen. A window of drive icons will appear. 4. To check the amount of memory available on the internal storage of your PDA, tap on the B drive icon. In a moment, the total number of free bytes will appear at the top of the screen. Compare the bytes free to the storage requirements on the previous page. 5. To check the amount of memory available on the PCMCIA storage card, tap on the C drive icon. In a moment, the total number of free bytes will appear at the top of the screen. Compare the bytes free to the storage requirements on the previous page. If you do not have enough free space available to install Graffiti, you may delete documents that you no longer need on your PDA. To delete a document, tap on its icon and drag it to the Waste Basket icon. Another way to increase the free memory available on your PDA is to purge information from the Date Book application. Refer to the user's guide supplied with your PDA for this and other techniques to increase the free memory available. (TE/all-04/26/95)
