150 MB SCSI Tape Cartridge (250-4169) Software Driver Installation Faxback Doc. # 16822 ORDER OF INSTALLATION Do not attempt to install the SCSI Driver until the tape drive is properly installed and configured in your system. Then, use these instructions to install the SCSI Driver. finally, install the SY-TOS software according to the procedures in the 150 MB SCSI Tape Cartridge System Software User Guide. SCSI Software Driver Installation Before using SY-TOS you must ensure that a CONFIG.SYS file is installed on your system's boot disk and that CONFIG.SYS includes the path to the tape device driver. The device driver is a file named SCSIHA.SYS. A SCSIHA.SYS file is located on the SY-TOS Diskette. (You received two diskettes, one for a 3.5-inch drive and another for a 5.25-inch drive.) To determine whether CONFIG.SYS already exists on your system, use the DOS command DIR. Refer to your DOS manual if you have questions about DOS commands. If a CONFIG.SYS file is not on your system boot disk, skip to the "Creating CONFIG.SYS" procedure below. If a CONFIG.SYS file exists on your system boot disk, you must then determine whether the device driver has already been installed.. Use the DOS command TYPE to display the contents of CONFIG.SYS. If CONFIG.SYS has a line that reads: DEVICE = SCSIHA.SYS, the device driver has been installed. You may then ignore the rest of these instructions and proceed to the installation of SY-TOS software. If CONFIG.SYS does not include that line, see "Modifying CONFIG.SYS." CREATING CONFIG.SYS Follow these steps to create a new CONFIG.SYS file. 1. Insert the appropriate diskette in drive A and copy the SCSIHA.SYS file to the root directory of your boot disk using the DOS command COPY. 2. Log on to your boot disk. Then type: COPY CON: CONFIG.SYS DEVICE=SCSIHA.SYS F6 3. Reboot your system. you may then install the SY-TOS software. MODIFYING CONFIG.SYS Follow these steps to modify an existing CONFIG.SYS file. 1. Insert the appropriate diskette in drive A and copy the SCSIHA.SYS file to the root directory of your boot disk using the DOS command COPY. 2. Using the DOS editor, EDLIN, or a word processor program, add the following to your CONFIG.SYS file: DEVICE=SCSIHA.SYS 3. Reboot your system. You may then install the SY-TOS software. (ALL-09/12/95)
