1.  Make sure the printer power is on.

2.  Open the print cartridge access door.

3.  Remove the print cartridge from its packaging.

    Hold the print cartridge by the blue, red or black surfaces only.
    Do not touch the copper area.

4.  Carefully remove the tape covering the printhead.

    Be sure to remove all the tape.  Do not touch the copper area.

5.  Insert the print cartridge in the carrier.

    The cartridges must be inserted in the correct position in the print
    cartridge carrier.  A colored bar appears above each position.  The
    colors match the colored tops of the print cartridges.  The black
    cartridge is installed in the left position and color cartridge is
    installed in the right position.

6.  Push the cartridge back until it clicks into place.

    If the print cartridge moves loosely in the carrier, it is not locked
    into place.  Repeat this step.

7.  Install the second cartridge using the same steps.

    Both print cartridges should now be installed.

8.  Close the print cartridge access door.

9.  Continue following the instructions on your computer screen.

10.  Align the printheads.

     The Align Cartridges dialog box appears on your screen and the printer
     prints a test page with horizontal patterns and vertical patterns.
     Each pattern has a number located beneath it.  An example follows:

11.  Using the printed test page, select the number of the patterns that
     are aligned correctly.

     In our example, 3 is the correct choice for Horizontal Alignment, 4 is
     the correct choice for Vertical Alignment, and 3 is the correct choice
     for the bidirectional alignment black and color.

12.  Enter the number located under each pattern into the boxes on the
     Align Cartridges dialog box.

13.  Choose OK.

14.  Choose Close when cartridge installation is complete.

NOTE:  Do not remove the print cartridges because they will dry out. 
       Remove them only when you are instructed to do so, or when you are
       replacing them.
