You can install the audio adapter with an internal or external CD-ROM drive
in any PC/AT-compatible computer that has an unused 5 1/4" drive bay and an
unused expansion slot for a full size 16-bit ISA expansion board.

Note: The external CD-ROM drive requires two expansion slots, one for the
      interface board and one for the audio adapter.

You must have the following hardware and software to configure your
multimedia system:

° 386SX CPU or greater

° 2MB or RAM (640KB base memory and 1.4MB extended memory)

Note: If you are using the Tandy 2500 SX/25 computer, you must have 4MB of
      RAM before converting your system into an MPC.

° 3 1/2", 1.44MB diskette drive

° 30MB hard drive (80MB high-performance SmartDrive with at least 32KB
  on-board cache recommended)

° 3 MHz DMA speed

° MS-DOS Version 5.0

° VGA graphics adapter and MPC-approved 256-color video drivers

° 101-key keyboard

° two-button mouse

° speakers or headphones

The Tandy Multimedia Upgrade Kit uses the 630MB storage capacity of the
CD-ROM compact disc to upgrade your personal computer into a multimedia
personal computer. After transforming your computer into an MPC system, you
will be able to create presentation-quality graphics or text-oriented
instruction with full animation and high-fidelity audio. Samples of art,
entertainment, and educational software applications are included with the
multimedia adapter.

The Tandy Multimedia Upgrade Kit includes Windows 3.0 with Multimedia
Extensions 1.0.

The multimedia personal computer is a strong tool for teaching, creating
presentations, and entertaining. The following features make it easy to 
use:

Stereo or mono digitized sound output:

   Lets you connect speakers with 1/8" stereo jack.

Stereo or mono sound recording:

  You can record from the microphone, stereo equipment, or the CD-ROM 
  drive.

Dual FM-synthesis music synthesizers:

   Provides many sounds, ranging from bells and drums to the flute.

Two versatile digital/analog mixer control panels--one for MS-DOS and one
for Windows--let you control and mix the audio signal volume:

   The digitized stereo sounds are from the CD-ROM drive or hard drive. The
   analog stereo sounds are from the microphone input, the line input, and
   portions of the CD-ROM drive.

   Both digitized and analog are programmable, with eight volume levels for
   each sound source.

Musical instrument digital interface (MIDI) with a 64-byte buffer and full
duplex and timekeeping features:

   Lets you connect any MIDI musical device, such as a keyboard, and record
   or play your own music.

16-bit CD-ROM data transfers:

   Increase performance.

   Two Tandy joystick ports that use mini-din connectors:

   Lets you connect mini-din joysticks to your MPC for two-player computer
   games.

Music/sound drivers are usually included in retail software for MPC systems.

Note:  Your CD-ROM drive is an external, single speed drive.  It is not 
       PhotoCD or MultiSesison compatible.
