Whether the printer is turned on or off, it remembers various printer sett- ings. Each of the four buttons on the control panel functions as it is labeled. Setup mode allows you to select options that change the printing style, page format, and other settings. Before you enter the setup mode, be sure to load paper that is at least 8 inches wide because the current sett- ings will print out. Note that the setup mode has two levels. ° Function Select Mode ° Menu Select Mode ┌─────────────────────────────────┐ │The control panel in Setup Mode: │ └─────────────────────────────────┘ [ON/OFF LINE] - turn on the printer while holding down this switch to enter the setup mode. Or, if the printer is already on, be sure the printer is off line and there is no data in buffer. Press and hold [ON/OFF LINE] and then press [LINE FEED] to enter setup mode. Note: Press in the setup mode switches to switch between the function select mode and the menu select mode. [LINE FEED] - press to advance to the next item in the current mode. Once through the entire list of items, the program repeats the list. [FORM FEED] - press to go back to the previous item in the current mode. Once through the entire list of items, the program repeats the list. [LQ/DRAFT] - press to exit the setup mode and return to the normal print mode. ON LINE/ALARM - remains lighted during the function select mode; goes off Indicator during the menu select mode. ┌───────────────────────┐ │Setup Mode Operations: │ └───────────────────────┘ 1. To enter setup mode, press and hold [ON/OFF LINE] while you turn on the printer. Or, if the printer is already on, be sure that the printer is off line and there is no data in the buffer. Press and hold [ON/OFF LINE] and then press [LINE FEED] to enter setup mode. The printer prints the current settings, followed by the first function (EMULATION) and its current menu setting. Now the printer is in the function select mode. The ON LINE/ALARM indicator lights. Note: If there is data in the buffer, the ON LINE/ALARM indicator flashes and the printer does not enter the setup mode. 2. Press [LINE FEED] or [FORM FEED]. Each time you press one of these buttons, the selected function and its current menu setting print. Press as many times as necessary until the function you want to change prints. 3. When the desired function prints, press [ON/OFF LINE] to switch to the menu select mode. The ON LINE/ALARM indicator goes off. 4. Press [LINE FEED] or [FORM FEED] until the menu you want prints. 5. If you need to change any other functions, press [ON/OFF LINE] to enter the function select mode and repeat Steps 2,3,and 4. 6. When you finish changing the menu settings, press [LQ/DRAFT]. The printer memorizes your new settings, exits the setup mode, and enters the normal on-line print mode. Note: If you turn off the printer without pressing [LQ/DRAFT], the printer does not save your new settings.
