The printer has a self-test function which checks for correct operation.  
We recommend that you run this test to check the printer operation before 
starting normal printing.

1.  Load paper that is 15 inches wide.

2.  While pressing [FORM FEED], turn on the printer.

After you release [FORM FEED] button, the printer prints a test pattern.  
To change the font during the self test, press [LQ/DRAFT].  The test patt-
ern continues to print until you turn off the printer.

To confirm that the carriage moves smoothly across the entire length of the
platen and that both the platen and the tractor unit rotate properly, run 
the carriage operation test. Note that during this test, the DMP-2104 cannot
print.

If you have loaded paper into the printer, remove it. Then, turn on the
printer while pressing [FORM FEED].

Note: Do not use the paper-park function for fanfold paper. You must remove
all paper from the printer for the carriage operation test.

The carriage moves from side to side and the tractor unit rotates a distance
of one line each time the carriage reaches the left or right edge of the
platen.

The carriage operation test continues until you turn of the printer.
