VGM-1731 (259-4092) Pinouts Faxback Doc. # 6096 BNC Connectors: BNC Connectors are used with coaxial cable for improved signal transmission. Improved signal transmission becomes critical at high frequencies such as those required for 1280 X 1024 resolution. Most video boards that operate at 1280 X1024 resolution recommend using coaxial cable with BNC connectors. The 4 BNC connectors on the rear of the monitor can accept Red, Green, and Blue video. Composite sync can be applied separately, or combined with the Green video signal (commonly referred to as "composite sync on green"). If composite sync on green is used, then only 3 of the 4 BNC connectors are used. The connectors are labeled accordingly. ┌───┬────────────────────────────────┐ │ │ Signals │ │ ├───────────────┬────────────────┤ │BNC│ Sync on Green │ Composite Sync │ ├───┼───────────────┼────────────────┤ │ 1 │ Red │ Red │ │ 2 │ Green + Sync │ Green │ │ 3 │ Blue │ Blue │ │ 4 │ N/C │ H/V Comp. The supplied 9-to-15 pin cable connects the computer's 15-pin VGA video port connector to the monitor's 9-pin connector. The following table lists the functions of the monitor's 9-pin connector. ┌───┬──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┐ │ │ Signals │ │ ├────────────────────┬────────────────────┬────────────────────┤ │Pin│ Separate │ Composite │ Sync on Green │ ├───┼────────────────────┼────────────────────┼────────────────────┤ │ 1 │ Red │ Red │ Red │ │ 2 │ Green │ Green │ Green+Sync │ │ 3 │ Blue │ Blue │ Blue │ │ 4 │ H-Sync │ H/V-Sync │ N/C │ │ 5 │ V-Sync │ N/C │ N/C │ │ 6 │ Red Return (GND) │ Red Return (GND) │ Red Return (GND) │ │ 7 │ Green Return (GND) │ Green Return (GND) │ Green Return (GND) │ │ 8 │ Blue Return (GND) │ Blue Return (GND) │ Blue Return (GND) │ │ 9 │ Sync Return (GND) │ Sync Return (GND) │ Sync Return (GND) │ └───┴────────────────────┴────────────────────┴────────────────────┘ N/C = No Connection (GND) = Ground (rjs-06/23/93)
