SCR-62 (140-0709) Connecting Power Faxback Doc. # 15036 You can operate the SCR-62 using internal battery power or household AC power. USING INTERNAL BATTERY POWER You can power your SCR-62 from six D batteries (not supplied). We recommend alkaline batteries such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-550. When the sound becomes weak, replace the batteries. 1. Press down on the battery compartment cover's tabs and remove the cover. 2. Remove the AC power cord, if necessary, and insert the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the compartment. 3. Replace the cover. NOTES: Never leave dead or weak batteries in the SCR-62. Batteries can leak chemicals which might damage it. If you are not going to use the SCR-62 for a month or more, or if you operate it only with AC power, remove the batteries. USING AC POWER Connect one end of the power cord to the AC terminal on the back of the recorder. Then connect the other end to a standard AC outlet. NOTE: The plug's blades are polarized (one blade is wider than the other) and it fits only one way. If the plug will not fit easily, turn it over and try again. Do not force it. USING VEHICLE BATTERY POWER You can power the radio/recorder from the vehicle's battery. Using vehicle battery power requires a DC adapter (not included), such as Cat. No. 273-1802. NOTE: The internal batteries disconnect when you connect the radio/recorder to the vehicle's battery power. CAUTIONS: The vehicle must have a 12-volt DC negative ground electrical system. Be sure you connect the adapter to the radio/recorder before you connect it to the cigarette-lighter socket, and disconnect the adapter from the cigarette-lighter socket before you disconnect it from the radio/recorder. Otherwise, the unconnected plug might touch some metal in the vehicle and damage the adapter or the vehicle's electrical system. You must use a DC adapter that supplies 6 volts and delivers at least 250 milliamps. Its center tip must be set to negative and its plug must correctly fit the radio/recorder's DC 6V jack. Using an adapter that does not meet these specifications could seriously damage the radio/recorder or adapter. (LB/all-04/27/95)
