6 1/2-Inch Dual Voice- (400-1373) Connections Faxback Doc. # 16103 Coil Subwoofer The subwoofer's dual-wound coils have two sets of terminals so you can connect: One subwoofer to both left and right stereo amplifier channels Two subwoofers, one to each stereo amplifier channel One subwoofer to a monaural amplifier For maximum bass response and the best overall performance, connect the wires between the subwoofer and amplifier according to the proper polarity (+ to +, and - to -). Reversed polarity results in a muffled sound. You can use coded wire to help you easily make the proper connections. One side of each pair of coded wires is marked with a stripe or groove. The insulation in some wires is clear, and the separated conductors are different colors, generally silver and gold. Use the striped or grooved wire, or the gold colored conductor, to connect the positive (+) terminals. NOTE: Your local Radio Shack store has a wide selection of wire. CONNECTING ONE SUBWOOFER TO A STEREO AMPLIFIER Follow these steps to connect one subwoofer to both amplifier channels (left and right). 1. Connect one set of subwoofer terminals (+ and-) to the amplifier's left or right channel. 2. Connect the remaining set of subwoofer terminals to the amplifier's other channel. CONNECTING TWO SUBWOOFERS TO A STEREO AMPLIFIER Follow these steps to connect a separate subwoofer to each amplifier channel (left and right). 1. On each subwoofer, connect a jumper wire (a small section of 18-gauge wire) between the positive (+) terminal of one set of terminals and the negative (-) terminal of the other set. 2. Connect the remaining terminals (+ and -) on the subwoofer to the matching terminals of the amplifier's left and right channel. 3. Connect the remaining terminals (+ and -) on the other subwoofer to the matching terminals of the amplifier's other channel. CONNECTING ONE SUBWOOFER TO A MONAURAL AMPLIFIER Follow these steps to connect one subwoofer to a monaural amplifier. 1. Connect a jumper wire (a small section of 18-gauge wire) between eh positive (+) terminal of one set of terminals and the negative (-) terminal of the other set. 2. Connect the remaining terminals (+ and -) on the subwoofer to the matching terminals of the amplifier. (ALL-07/25/95)
