OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Connect the power plug to a standard 120V, 60Hz AC outlet.

2.  Set to the correct time by turning the TIME ADJUST knob (7) in the
    direction indicated.  

3.  Set the ALARM & AUTO knob (6) to the desired time.

4.  Set the FUNCTION switch (1) for the desired mode of operation.

    ALARM - In this position, the buzzer alarm will sound at the preset
            time.  To silence the buzzer set the FUNCTION switch to the
            "OFF" position, or to "ON" if you want the radio to play.

    AUTO  - In this position the radio will turn on automatically at the
            pre-set time.  The buzzer alarm will not sound. 

    ON    - In this position the radio will be on regardless of the time
            setting or use of the sleep switch. 

    OFF   - In this position the radio is off and will play only when the 
            SLEEP SWITCH is operated. 

5.  SLEEP SWITCH (5):  The SLEEP SWITCH may be used with the FUNCTION
    switch in either the OFF, AUTO or ALARM position to shut off the radio 
    automatically after up to 60 Minutes.  With the FUNCTION switch in the 
    AUTO or ALARM position, the sleep switch may be used to let you go to
    sleep to music, then be wakened by music (or the Alarm). 

6.  ALARM or AUTO PRESET:  Set the preset knob (6) for the time when you 
    wish to be awakened, either AM or FM radio or by the alarm.  This 24-
    hour setting feature makes it possible to set the alarm just once in 
    a 24-hour period. 

7.  To use SNOOZE: The "SNOOZE" feature works during either of the above
    alarm operations.  To obtain approximately 5 minutes of additional
    sleep, push down "SNOOZE BUTTON" (8) on top of the radio.  This will
    silence both alarms for about 5 minutes.  You can continue to do this
    for up to about 1 hour (after that, the alarm will sound continuously).
    To turn the alarm off, set the FUNCTION switch to the ON position (the
    radio will continue to play) or the OFF position (both radio and alarm
    will be off).

8.  For private listening, plug an earphone or pillow speaker into the
    EARPHONE JACK (9).  This will automatically disconnect the built-in
    speaker.  Check your Radio Shack store for a complete selection of
    earphones and pillow speakers. 

9.  To listen to the radio: Set the FUNCTION switch to the ON position.
    Select FM or AM with the BAND SELECTOR switch (2).  Tune in the station
    you wish to listen to with TUNING knob (4) and adjust the VOLUME
    CONTROL (3) as desired. 

    The Realistic Digichron-VII has a built-in ferrite core AM antenna, and
    line cord FM antenna which should provide excellent reception under
    normal circumstances.  For best results on FM be sure the line cord is
    straight and fully extended rather than coiled, and try reversing the
    AC plug in the socket for best reception.  In some fringe areas, or
    where electrical interference is experienced, the use of an external
    FM antenna may be helpful.  Connect as shown in Figure 3,  (to FM
    ANTENNA screws).

CAUTION:  The Realistic Digichron-VII FM-AM Clock-Radio is designed for
          use on standard 120V, 60Hz AC.  Do not attempt to use on DC.

          To clean the cabinet, use a soft cloth moistened with water or a
          mild soap solution.  Do not use harsh cleaners or solvents.  If
          the power to your Digichron-VII is interrupted, be sure to reset
          the clock to the correct time after power is resumed.
