CD-3310 (140-0535) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 3970 CONNECTING THE SPEAKERS Connecting wires for the CD-3310's detachable speakers are rolled up in the recessed area at the back of each speaker. The wires connect to the left and right speaker jacks located on the back of the recorder. Caution: Do not plug in the power cord until you finish connecting the speakers. Operating the CD-3310 without connected speakers could damage it. Follow these steps to connect the speakers to the system. 1. Unwind the speaker wires and insert the plugs into the speaker jacks. 2. Align the dovetails on the side of the left speaker with the tracks on the left end of the main unit and slide down. 3. Align the dovetails on the side of the right speaker with the tracks on the right end of the main unit and slide down. To disconnect the speakers from the system, press and hold down RELEASE and slide the speakers upward along the tracks. Note: Be sure to disconnect the wires before disconnecting the speakers from the system. CONNECTING TO POWER You can power the CD-3310 from eight D batteries (not supplied), such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-550, or from a standard AC outlet by using the supplied power cord. USING BATTERY POWER Follow these steps to install batteries. 1. Lift open the battery compartment cover by pushing the tabs in the direction of the arrows. 2. Insert eight D batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols marked outside the battery compartment. 3. Replace the cover. USING AC POWER To use AC power, plug the supplied AC power cord into the AC 120V-60Hz jack on the back of the CD-3310. Then plug the other end into a standard AC outlet. Note: The internal batteries automatically disconnect when you connect the power cord. Warning: Always unplug the AC power cord from the AC outlet before you unplug it from the CD-3310.
