SYSTEM 729 MINI SYS. W/ CD Play., AM/FM Stereo, Dual Dub. Cass. Deck & Mix. (130-1276) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 32478 CAUTIONS: Do not connect the system to AC power until you complete all other connections. Be sure to follow all the installation instructions described in the enclosed "Safety Instructions." CONNECTING THE SPEAKERS To attach the speakers to the System 729, slide each speaker down into the grooves on each side of the System 729 until it clicks. To detach each speaker, press and hold the speaker's locking latch away from the system, then lift the speaker straight up. Or, you can place the System 729's speakers anywhere in your listening area. NOTE: If you want to connect speakers other that the supplied ones, use speakers with an impedance of 4 ohms. Place the speakers so the distance between them is the same as the distance between the listening area and a point halfway between the speakers. If the distance between the speakers is greater, you can improve the stereo effect by angling the speakers in toward the listening area. To increase the bass effect, place the speakers in corners, against the wall, or directly on the floor. To decrease the bass effect, move the speakers slightly away from the corners, increase the distance from the wall, or raise them 6 to 8 inches off the floor. You can purchase speaker stands at your local Radio Shack store. Connecting The Speaker Wires Follow these steps to connect the speakers' wires to the System 729. 1. Unwind as much speaker wire as you need from the back of each speaker, then slide the wire through any of the slots on the back of each speaker to lock it. 2. Insert the left speaker's plug into SPEAKER L on the back of the System 729, then insert the right into SPEAKER R. NOTE: Be sure to match the positive side of the plug to the positive side of the terminal, and the negative side to the negative. POWER SOURCES You can power the System 729 using the supplied AC power cord or internal battery power. Using AC Power You can power the System 729 from standard AC power using the supplied AC power cord. Insert the AC power cord's plug into the AC IN jack on the back of the System 729, then plug the AC power cord into a standard AC outlet. CAUTION: Always connect the AC power cord to the System 729 before you plug it into the AC outlet, and unplug the AC power cord from the AC outlet before you unplug it from the System 729. NOTE: Internal batteries, if used, automatically disconnect when you connect the AC power cord to the System 729. (LB/EB 4/19/96)
