SYSTEM 729 MINI SYS. W/ CD Play., AM/FM Stereo, Dual Dub. Cass. Deck & Mix. (130-1276) Mixer Faxback Doc. # 32482 USING MICROPHONE MIXING You can use the System 729's microphone mixing feature to sing along with your favorite CD or cassette recordings, songs played over the radio, or special karaoke cassette tapes, and record the accompaniment with your voice on a cassette tape. NOTES: To use this feature, you need an external microphone (Cat. No. 33-986) and a 1/4-inch stereo plug adapter (Cat. No. 274-366). Insert the microphone's 1/4-inch plug into the 1/4-inch stereo plug adapter, then plug the adapter into the system's 1/8-inch MIC jack. To help prevent feedback, we recommend you use a unidirectional microphone. WARNING: To protect your hearing, set VOLUME to MIN before you turn on the system. 1. Connect an external microphone to the MIC jack. 2. Set FUNCTION to the desired audio source (RADIO, CD, or RADIO/CD OFF). NOTES: Setting FUNCTION to RADIO/CD OFF (DUBB.NOR.) lets you select a cassette tape as an audio source. If you set FUNCTION to TAPE (DUBB.HIGH), microphone mixing will not work. If you set FUNCTION to CD, microphone mixing works and lets you press and hold down |<< or >>|. However, if you are recording, you cannot pause the CD or search through the CD's tracks. 3. If necessary, start the selected audio source. 4. Adjust BALANCE, BASS, TREBLE, and VOLUME to the desired levels. 5. Adjust MIC MIXING to adjust the microphone's sound level, then sing or talk into the microphone. The system mixes your voice with the audio source. 6. To record your voice and the audio source together on a cassette tape, simply record from the audio source. See "Recording", on Faxback Doc. # 32481. NOTE: To prevent noisy feedback while recording, keep the microphone as far away as possible from the speakers and adjust MIC MIXING toward MIN. When you finish mixing, set MIC MIXING to MIN and remove the microphone's plug from the MIC jack. (LB/EB 4/19/96)
