Electronic Portable CD Player Mount for all Cars, Trucks, and RVs (420-3051) Installation Faxback Doc. # 32537 INSTALLING THE CD MOUNT You can install the CD player mount in a variety of locations, such as on center consoles, transmission humps, under dashboards, and so on. When selecting a mounting location, choose an area that is easy to reach and that does not interfere with your driving. Hold the supplied platform in several different locations and determine the mounting method that best meets your needs - base mounting, under dash mounting, or surface mounting. BASE MOUNTING Follow these step to secure the CD player mount to any surface such as a transmission tunnel or the side of a center console. 1. Turn over the platform and decide which set of mounting holes is closest to the mounting location. CAUTION: Do not use the under dash extension bracket for base mounting. 2. Align the two mounting holes in the platform with the two holes in the swivel base mounting post. 3. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, attach the swivel base mounting post to the underside of the platform with the two short self-tapping screws. 4. Using the swivel base as a guide, drill 1/8 inch mounting holes into the desired mounting location. CAUTION: Be careful not to drill into anything behind the mounting surface. 5. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, attach the swivel base to the mounting surface with the four long screws, but do not tighten the screws. NOTE: If the mounting surface is too weak to support the screws, use the four tinnerman clips for more support. 6. Position the platform level with the road surface. NOTE: If mounting the swivel base to the side of a center console or transmission hump, position the swivel base with the "U-shaped" recess facing upward. 7. Tighten the four long screws in the swivel base to secure it to the mounting surface. UNDER DASH MOUNTING Follow these steps to install the CD player mount under a dashboard, using the extension bracket attached to the platform. 1. Align the mounting holes in the swivel base mounting post with the two holes at the end of the extension bracket. 2. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, attach the swivel base mounting post to the top of the extension bracket with the two short screws. 3. Using the swivel base as a guide, drill 1/8 inch mounting holes into the desired mounting location. CAUTION: Be careful not to drill into anything behind the mounting surface. 4. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, attach the swivel base to the mounting surface with the four long screws, but do not tighten the screws. NOTE: If the mounting surface is too weak to support the screws, use the four tinnerman clips for more support. 5. Position the platform level with the road surface. 6. Tighten the four long screws in the swivel base to secure it to the mounting surface. SURFACE MOUNTING To install the CD player mount on a flat surface, such as on a dashboard, simply insert two of the supplied hook-and-loop tape strips between the platform and the mounting surface. NOTE: Mount the platform on a surface that is level with the road. Most portable CD players do not function properly when mounted at extreme angles. CAUTION: Do not install on top of dash where outside climate conditions reach over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. MOUNTING YOUR CD PLAYER Use the supplied hook-and-loop tape strips to secure your portable CD player to the CD player mount's platform. CAUTION: When removing your portable CD player from the platform, always use one hand to secure the platform. (YO/EB 4/23/96)
