Standard AC power, using the supplied AC power cord. Vehicle battery power, using an optional DC-to-AC inverter. In addition, the remote control requires two AA batteries. INSTALLING BATTERIES You can power the CD-3320 from eight D batteries (not supplied). For the best results, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-550. 1. Press down on the two tabs above the battery compartment cover and pull out the cover to remove it. CAUTIONS: To protect the CD-3320 from possible battery leakage, never leave dead, weak, or old batteries in the CD-3320. If you do not plan to use the CD-3320 for a month or more, or if you plan to use the AC power cord or a DC-to-AC adapter, remove the batteries. 2. Insert eight D batteries in the compartment, as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked on the battery compartment cover. CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type. Never mix fresh and old batteries. 3. Replace the cover. If the CD-3320's sound weakens or distorts, replace the batteries promptly and properly; do not bury or burn them. USING AC POWER Plug the supplied AC power cord into AC INPUT on the back of the CD-3320, then plug the other end into a standard AC outlet. CAUTIONS: The supplied AC power cord has a polarized plug - one blade is larger than the other. If you have difficulty inserting the plug, do not force it! Turn it over and reinsert it. Always plug the AC power cord into the CD-3320 before you plug it into the AC outlet. Always unplug the AC power cord from the AC outlet before you unplug it from the CD-3320. NOTE: The CD-3320 automatically disconnects internal batteries when you connect the AC power cord. USING VEHICLE BATTERY POWER You can convert your vehicle's DC power to the 120V AC power the CD-3320 requires by using a DC-to-AC inverter, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 22-132 (not supplied). Follow the instructions included with the inverter to connect it to your vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket. Then plug the supplied AC power cord into AC INPUT on the back of the CD-3320 and plug the other end of the cord into the AC outlet on the inverter. CAUTION: Always plug the AC power cord into the CD-3320 before you plug the power cord into the inverter. Always unplug the AC power cord form the inverter before you unplug the power cord from the CD-3320. NOTE: If the CD-3320 hums when you turn it off, just unplug the inverter from your vehicle's cigarette-lighter socket. INSTALLING THE REMOTE CONTROL'S BATTERIES The remote control requires two AA batteries (not supplied) for power. We recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-557. 1. To remove the battery compartment cover, press down on it as shown and slide it in the direction of the arrow. 2. Install the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the compartment. CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type. Do not mix old and new batteries. 3. Replace the cover. NOTE: If the remote control does not work or has poor range, replace both batteries. CAUTIONS: Dispose of batteries promptly and properly; do not bury or burn them. Never leave dead or weak batteries in the remote control. (YO/EB 8/5/96)
