CD-3320 Portable AM/FM Stereo Cassette Recorder with CD Player (140-0545) Radio/CD Operation Faxback Doc. # 34323 RADIO OPERATION 1. Set FUNCTION to RADIO. Then radio turns on. 2. Set BAND to AM or FM. 3. Adjust TUNING to the desired station. NOTES: For the best AM reception, rotate the CD-3320 to position the built in AM antenna. For the best FM reception, fully extend the telescoping antenna and swivel it to the position that produces the best reception. If FM is selected, the CD-3320 automatically switches to stereo when an FM broadcast is received in stereo. 4. Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable level. 5. Set E-BASS to MAX for an enhanced bass effect, to MIN for a diminished bass sound, or to the center position for normal bass sound. 6. To turn off the radio, set FUNCTION to OFF. CD PLAYER OPERATION USING THE CD REMOTE CONTROL The CD player's buttons also have corresponding buttons on the remote control, and you can press either the CD player or remote control button to control the function. To use the remote control, point it directly at the infrared sensor on the front of the CD-3320, then firmly press the desired button. LOADING/UNLOADING A CD 1. Set FUNCTION to CD. - flashes, then stays lit on the display. 2. Press PUSH OPEN to open the CD compartment door. 3. Place a CD in the compartment with the label facing up. 4. Push the compartment door on PUSH TO CLOSE to close the door. - flashes on the display, then the total number of tracks appears. NOTE: If the CD has 20 tracks or more, 0 flashes on the display. 5. To remove the CD, press PUSH OPEN, grasp the CD by its edges, and carefully pull it out. NOTE: If the CD was playing, wait for it to stop turning before you press PUSH OPEN to remove it. PLAYING A CD 1. Press PLAY/PAUSE to play all the tracks in order starting with Track 1. The CD PLAY indicator lights, and the current track number appears on the display. NOTE: Press PLAY/PAUSE to temporarily stop the CD. The CD PLAY indicator flashes. Press PLAY/PAUSE again to resume playing the CD. The CD PLAY indicator lights steadily. 2. Adjust VOLUME to a comfortable level. 3. Set E-BASS to MAX for an enhanced bass effect, to MIN for a diminished bass sound, or to the center position for normal bass sound. 4. Press STOP/CLEAR (or STOP on the remote control) to stop playing the CD before all tracks have played. 0 appears on the display. RESETTING THE CD-3320 You might need to reset the CD-3320 if any of the following occur. The CD-3320's display shows 0 and the CD player does not respond to any buttons. The CD-3320 is dropped or subjected to a physical or electrical shock. CAUTION: This procedure clears all the information you have programmed into the CD-3320. Use this procedure only when you are sure your CD-3320 is not working properly. 1. Set FUNCTION to OFF, then set it to CD. 2. Press PLAY/PAUSE to play the CD. AUTOMATIC SEARCH MUSIC SYSTEM (ASMS) To skip backward or forward to another track while a CD is playing, repeatedly press SKIP/SEARCH << or >> until the number of the track you want to play appears. The CD player stops playing the current track, skips to the selected track, then plays. NOTES: If you use SKIP/SEARCH << or >> while CD is paused, the CD remains paused when the CD player skips to the selected track. If the CD is stopped, repeatedly press SKIP/SEARCH << or >> until the display shows the number of the track you want to play, then press PLAY/PAUSE. The CD player starts playing the selected track. AUDIBLE SEARCH To search for a particular section of a track while a CD is playing, press and hold down SKIP/SEARCH << or >>. The CD player rapidly plays the CD either backward or forward and automatically reduces the CD's volume. When you hear the desired section, release SKIP/SEARCH << or >> to resume normal play. NOTES: If you press and hold SKIP/SEARCH << or >> while CD is paused, you do not hear the CD play during the search and the CD remains paused when you release SKIP/SEARCH << or >>. If you reach the beginning of Track 1 while pressing and holding down SKIP/SEARCH <<, the CD player pauses at the beginning of Track 1. If you reach the end of the last track while pressing and holding down SKIP/SEARCH >>, the CD player stops and 0 appears. REPEAT PLAY To repeat the entire CD, press REPEAT once before or during play. The REPEAT indicator lights, and the CD player continuously replays the entire CD. NOTE: If you have programmed a sequence in memory (see "Programmed Play", below), pressing REPEAT replays the entire sequence. To cancel the repeat function, press REPEAT again. The REPEAT indicator turns off. PROGRAMMED PLAY You can program up to 16 tracks on a CD to play in any sequence. NOTE: Be sure the CD player is stopped before you program tracks. 1. Press SKIP/SEARCH << or >> to select the track you want to store in the first memory location. The selected track number flashes. 2. Press MEMORY. The MEMORY indicator lights. 3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to program additional tracks. NOTE: When all 16 memory locations are used, the track number on the display does not change when SKIP/SEARCH << or >> is pressed. 4. Press PLAY/PAUSE. The tracks play in the programmed order. The current track number appears on the display, and the CD PLAY and MEMORY indicators light. NOTE: During play, you can press SKIP/SEARCH << or >> to move through the programmed sequence. 5. To clear the program from memory, press STOP/CLEAR (or STOP on the remote control) twice. CHECKING A PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE When play is stopped, press MEMORY to display the programmed tracks in the order they were entered. 0 appears on the display after the last programmed track number. ADDING TO THE PROGRAMMED SEQUENCE You can repeat Steps 1 and 2 in "Programmed Play" to add to the end of the programmed sequence. NOTES: You can only add to a programmed sequence if you have fewer than 16 tracks programmed. You cannot change a programmed track, or add an entry before or between the programmed tracks.
