2-Way Crossover Network (400-1305) Installation Faxback Doc. # 14018 SPEAKER SELECTION For best performance, use speakers with overlapping frequency ranges. both speakers should include the crossover frequency (3000 Hz) in their ranges. (This prevents a hole in the speaker system's sound.) Your local Radio Shack has a wide selection of component speakers. Caution: Do not connect the crossover network to an amplifier until you connect the speakers to the crossover network. CONNECTIONS 1. Determine the location for the crossover networks. Place each crossover network as close as possible to the amplifier. Note: If you install the crossover network inside a speaker enclosure, you can mount the crossover network using sheet metal or wood screw. Be sure to avoid creating air leaks in the enclosure when installing your crossover network. 2. Connect the tweeter's positive and negative terminals to the corresponding TWEETER terminals on the crossover network. 3. Connect the woofer's positive and negative terminals to the corresponding WOOFER terminals on the crossover network. 4. Connect the amplifier's positive and negative terminals to the corresponding INPUT terminals on the crossover network. NOTES: Incorrect phasing (matching of positive and negative terminals) can cause deterioration in sound quality or a hole (absence of sound) in the frequency response of your speaker systems. Be sure there are no stray wires connecting adjacent speaker or crossover terminals. The crossover network is designed to handle up to 100 watts of audio power (maximum music power). (ALL-03/08/95)
