2800 HD (250-3550) Keyboard Functions Faxback Doc. # 1853 The built-in 84-key keyboard has five groups of keys: F (function) keys Special function keys Typewriter keys Direction keys Numeric keys F (Function) keys - usually program-specific. Typewriter keys - Feature auto-repeat. When you hold down a character key, the character repeats automatically until you release the key. Direction keys - Control the movement of the cursor (the marker on the screen). Pressing a direction key moves the cursor one character position in the direction of the arrow. Holding down a cursor key repeats the action. Numeric keys - Pressing FN + KEYPAD enables and disables the numeric keys located at the keypad area. The keypad is the group of typewriter keys with numbers and arrows printed on the faces and characters printed on the tops. To use the numbers, press NUM LOCK. To use PG UP, PG DN, END, HOME, and the direction keys, leave the NUM LOCK key off. Attaching an External Keyboard: 1. Plug the optional keyboard into the keyboard connector in the back of the computer. 2. If the optional keyboard has XT and AT switch settings, choose AT. 3. The external keyboards NUM LOCK can be activated automatically at startup. Run the SETUP_28 utility and select ON from the NUM LOCK option.
