MISCELLANEOUS NOTES

The AT&T Globalyst 865 comes with a pair of multimedia speakers. The 
microphone that is used for both recording and for speaker phone, is built 
into the speakers. In addition to the speaker cable you would normally plug
in, you must also plug in the microphone cable into the MIC IN jack on the
computer.  The microphones ability to pick up your voice is pretty good, 
both for the recording of greetings and messages, as well as talking on the
phone.

The startup group is empty, though it appeared to be minimized with the 
Printers window, upon boot.  The Add/Remove programs box in Control Panel 
was empty. All programs are reinstalled using the boot disk and comes 
included in the System Pack. 

The Comptons Interactive Encylclopedia 1996, supports and uses Autoplay.
Qmodem Pro comes pre-defined with the proper AT&T modem set up for use. As
mentioned earlier, the Modem is defined properly in the Modem setup in 
Control Panel. The modem is on Com 3.

Going to DOS.

When going to Dos, by clicking on START, and choosing Restart Computer in 
MS-Dos mode, you will have:
Largest Executable Program Size: -- 607,008
Largest Free Upper Memory Block -- 11,840.
	
Restoring from CD.

By using the supplied boot disk, you may restore some or all your 
pre-installed software from the included CDÆs. When you boot to this disk, 
you are given ( 2 ) choices:
  MAIN MENU
  PERFORM DIAGNOSTIC TESTS ON SYSTEM

When MAIN MENU is chosen, you have the ( 4 ) choices:

  Reinstall Specific Application
  Restore Entire System to Facory Configuration
  Perform System Utilities
  Exit

If you choose to Perform System Utilities, you have the following ( 6 ) 
choices:

1. Partition hard drive ( fdisk )

2. Format hard drive ( format )

3. Check hard drive for problems ( scandisk )

4. Defragment files on hard drive ( defrag )

5. Create system diagnostics disk

6. Return to main menu

When PERFORM DIAGNOSTICS is chosen, the program takes you through making a
diagnostic boot disk.  Once disk is made, power down and reboot with disk. 
Your only choice after booting is to run the diagnostics program.

The computer may ask for one of the CDÆs, either the Backup CD, or the 
Recovery CD, at anytime.  Be prepared to insert these CDs.
