AT&T Globalyst 365TPC (12-10633) Shutdown Faxback Doc. # 17466 AT&T SHUTDOWN FEATURE One unique feature the AT&T Globalyst offers is that of an automatic shutdown. When using Windows 95, if you choose to shutdown the computer by clicking START, then SHUT DOWN, then choosing SHUT DOWN THE COMPUTER, the AT&T Globalyst will automatically turn off the computer. You do not have to wait for the screen that says It is Now Safe to Turn off Your Computer. When Windows is ready to display that message, it sends a signal to the computer, and it is automatically turned off completely. You would still need to turn off your monitor. If you open the computer's case and look inside, you will see a purple and black cable going from the power supply to the main logic board. This is the wire that performs the above function. If this wire is unplugged, the computer will not even power up. If someone complains about not being able to power up the computer after adding new hardware or going inside the computer for any reason, be sure that this cable is properly plugged in. If the power management featuresare enabled in the computer's CMOS setup, you will get a message at the bottom of the screen just after power up that says Press F2 to enter setup. At this time, press F2 to get into Phoenix BIOS Setup. Press the right arrow key to select POWER. On this screen, APM Interface is already highlighted. Press the + or - key (plus or minus) to change from DISABLED to ENABLED. Once changed, press the right arrow again to get to EXIT. Save Changes & Exit is already highlighted. Hit ENTER. A NOTICE box comes up and says Changes Have Been Saved, and the word CONTINUE is highlighted. Hit ENTER again. The computer will reboot with the saved changes. The connector will only fit one way, so just ensure it is on correctly. Note that this cable must be plugged in whether the APM features are enabled or disabled. (PB/all-10/17/95)
