Your computer will not automatically detect these adapter cards. You must set the resources used by ISA Legacy cards to Not Available to prevent the System BIOS from assigning these resources to Plug and Play cards. Memory Resources I/O Port Resources DMA Resources Interrupt Resources Choosing any of these gives you a screen with the appropriate information to either set as AVAILABLE, or NOT AVAILABLE. For example, the Memory Resources screen gives you each memory address that can be changed or allocated for an ISA card. The DMA screen lets you assign DMA values to your existing ISA Legacy cards. The same applies to the I/O Ports, and Interrupt Resources. This does not change or affect what your devices are actually set at. It is used to assign a value that the CMOS recognizes as NOT AVAILABLE, so that when a true Plug and Play device is added, it does not try to assign it to something that is already being used. If you are not familiar with the settings in this menu, it is best to leave it alone. If you later have trouble with a new Plug and Play device, you may need to go back and assign values to this area. Startup Options submenu: First Startup Device Valid choices are: Diskette Drive A: Hard Disk 1 Disabled Second Startup Device, Valid choices are: (same as above, but limited to the two remaining options that are not selected) Third Startup Device, DISABLED Fourth Startup Device, DISABLED System Memory Test, Valid choices are: ENABLED or DISABLED Virus Detection, Valid choices are: ENABLED or DISABLED Advanced Options: somebody needs to finish (/all-10/18/95)
