Enhanced VESA Multi I/O Card (12-10153) Test Notes Faxback Doc. # 17556 1. Installed an additional 4 MB of RAM in US Logic 486DX2 66 system. Removed original I/O controller card, and installed the Enhanced VESA Multi I/O card. The settings on the board were set at the default settings. As well, an 850 MB Western Digital IDE drive was installed. 2. Booted the system with an MS-DOS boot disk. Ran FDISK and formatted the drive. The computer booted properly with all 850 MB of the hard drive being recognized. 3. Installed original CD-ROM drivers, and rebooted the system. 4. Installed Windows 95. Experienced no problems installing Windows 95. Rebooted the system, and Windows 95 continued to work properly. 5. While in Windows 95, ran the INSTALL4 executable file from the START- RUN option. Option one DETECT HDD SPEED AND SETUP DRIVERS was chosen, and it appeared to have installed properly. It then prompted for the system to be rebooted. Selecting 'Yes' but the system did not reboot itself. Repeating steps 2 thru 4 still would not allow the computer system to load Windows 95. In both scenarios, the system locked up on the cloud screen. 6. Pressing and selecting option 3 allows the system to boot to the safe mode. An error message comes back stating the system may have a virus. The Master Boot Record of the system has been modified. A prompt that requests whether the user would like to see more information on the problem. Based on our testing results, the US Logic Enhanced IDE I/O Card offered as SKU#20-10153 works correctly with the Windows 3.1 environment using the INSTALL4 drivers. It will not work with these drivers under Windows 95.
