(250-1651) Reinstallation Faxback Doc. # 2730 Your computer is shipped with utilities that reinstall MS-DOS, Windows, and Windows applications that were factory-installed on the hard drive. Use the reinstallation utilities only if you want to reinstall MS-DOS and Windows applications as they were installed on the hard drive originally. For example, you might need to reinstall applications in the (somewhat unlikely) event of a hard drive failure or an accidental deletion. RUNNING SETUPDOS To reinstall MS-DOS, the utilities, and the CD-ROM drivers on the hard drive: 1. Insert the Startup diskette and restart the computer. 2. Insert the System Disc into the CD-ROM drive. 3. Type SETUPDOS and press ENTER. NOTE: Your hard drive is partitioned at the factory. If you previously deleted the partition, note that they will be recreated when you run setupdos. If setupdos reinstalls partitions, it is necessary to restart the computer and run setupdos a second time to complete the installation. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. Remove the Startup diskette from the diskette drive after you complete the installation. RUNNING INSTALL To reinstall Windows and the Windows applications originally included on the hard drive: 1. Restart the computer. Change to the MS-DOS prompt to verify that MS-DOS is properly installed. 2. Insert the Data Disc into the CD-ROM drive. 3. Type d: and press ENTER to access the CD-ROM drive. Type cd\ and press ENTER to change to the root directory. 4. Type INSTALL and press ENTER. 5. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation. When you complete the installation the Windows Program Manager is displayed. PERFORMING CUSTOM APPLICATION INSTALLATIONS The System Disc contains the installation programs for many of the applications included with your system.
