 Adding your own program shorcuts to the "Spot" menu quadrants is fairly 
easy. AST Spot has four different quadrants that appear when you place
the mouse pointer on the Spot. They are Toolbar, Software, Folders, and
Ask AST.
 The most common place for adding shorcuts is the Software quadrant. 
There are four areas under the Software quadrant to add shortcuts, 
Productivity, Financial, Communication, and Fun and Learning. 
 I..
To add a shorcut to the Software quadrant do the following:
     1) Put the cursor on the Spot.
     2) Move the cursor up towards the Software quadrant.
     3) Click on the area you want to add the shortcut, games would most 
 likely go under Fun and Learning.
     4) Once on that area's window there will be an icon for Companion 
 Folder. Double click this icon to get to the Other Fun and Learning 
 window (of course it would be the Other Productivity window if you were
 adding a shortcut to the Productivity area).
     5) Click on File at the top and go to New then Shortcut.
     6) Then a Create Shortcut window appears with a Browse option. There
 will need to be a command line entered here, or you can use Browse if 
 you do not know the complete path. Once the path for the command line is 
correct then click on Next.
     7) Enter a name for the shorcut and click on Finish. 

 Once this is completed Spot will add the shorcut to that area that was 
 selected under the "Other ....." icon. To remove the shortcut icon just 
 highlight it and delete it...(File then Delete will work fine).

To add a button to the Toolbar quadrant:
     1) Move cursor to the Spot and go up to the Toolbar quadrant.
     2) Once the Toolbar quadrant pops up, move the cursor a little to 
 the left and place it on the word Spot (it is on the same line as the 
 word "Toolbar".
     3) Leave the cursor still until a box pops open to modify the 
 Toolbar options. You can add new buttons, delete old buttons,or even 
 change the properties of an existing button. If you are adding a button 
 then it will bring up a Browse type window to select the command line
 file for the button you wish to add.

The Ask AST quadrant contains the help files for most AST Works software. 

 IV..
The Folders quadrant contains buttons for the user to modify and create 
to their own satisfaction. To add a folder to this section go to Spot 
then the Folders quadrant and move the cursor slightly to the right until
the pointer is on top of the word Spot (on the same line as the word 
Folders). Wait until a box appears and from there you can add, remove, or
modify the boxes. It uses an Explorer type window to find the command 
for each application you want to add to this section. Just like the 
Software quadrant.

There is also a lock feature on each of these quadrants to keep others 
from altering a customized Spot. The Lock icon can be seen on each 
quadrant as it is opened.
