Portable Power-Pak (230-0182) Operation Faxback Doc. # 14263 WHEN TO CHARGE YOUR ENERCELL PORTABLE POWER-PAK The power-pak battery thrives on charging. Before using it for the first time charge the power-pak for 48 hours with the AC charger supplied with the unit. Immediately following each usage, disconnect your appliance and recharge the battery for 24 hours. After an extended period of storage (more than 1 year) recharge the battery for 48 hours. Note: To obtain maximum lifetime and performance from your power-pak battery, do not recharge it for longer than 72 hours. Do not leave any battery operated appliance turned on after the battery has discharged to the point that the appliance stops operating. Overdischarging a battery may cause problems in recharging the battery to a full charge. If this does occur, immediately disconnect the appliance and recharge the battery for 48 hours. HOW TO RECHARGE YOUR ENERCELL PORTABLE POWER-PAK To connect the ac charger, open the carrying case and pull out the cigarette lighter socket attached to the power-pak. Insert the mating connector on the charger unit into the cigarette lighter socket. Plug the charger into any 120 volt (household) wall socket. Leave the unit plugged in and connected until the battery is fully charged as discussed in the previous section of this brochure. The automobile charger cable is provided for your convenience to allow recharging of your power-pak unit while traveling in your automobile. It is a convenient way to keep your power-pak charged for use with a video camera while on vacation. To use the charger cable, simply plug one end of the cable into the cigarette lighter socket on the power-pak and plug the other end into your automobile's cigarette lighter. The amount of charging time required for full charge varies depending on the type of automobile you have; however, a full charge can normally be obtained in 14 to 24 hours of continuous charging, with the engine running. NOTE: If your engine is not running, the power-pak will not fully charge. CAUTION: If one end of the charger cable is inserted into the automobile cigarette cable is inserted into the automobile cigarette lighter and the other end is not inserted into the power-pak unit the free end will have 12-volts on it. If this end is shorted against any grounded metal part in your automobile, it can blow the fuse for your cigarette lighter. HOW TO USE YOUR ENERCELL PORTABLE POWER-PAK Many types of battery-operated electronic equipment (including most video cameras) comes equipped with a connector that plugs into a standard cigarette lighter socket. To power your equipment with the power-pak, unzip the carrying case and pull the socket out of the case the zip the case so that the cord is hanging out of the corner of the case. Then simply insert the connector on your piece of equipment into the cigarette lighter socket attached to your power-pak. Once connected, your equipment is ready for normal use. (/all-03/20/95)
