Radio Controlled 4 Wheel-Drive Thunder Fox II (600-4151) Batteries Faxback Doc. # 32041 NOTE: You need a rechargeable battery pack (Cat. No. 23-229, not supplied) with a nickel-cadmium battery charger (Cat. No. 23-240, not supplied) to power your Thunder Fox II. You also need one 9-volt battery to power the transmitter. CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK Your Thunder Fox II uses a rechargeable battery pack (Cat. No. 23-229) for power. You must charge the battery pack with a battery charger (Cat. No. 23-240) before you can use it to power your Thunder Fox II. CAUTION: Use only the recommended battery pack to power your Thunder Fox II and the recommended battery charger to recharge the battery pack. NOTE: If you want to drive your Thunder Fox II for longer periods of time, we suggest that you purchase an extra battery pack. You can charge one while you use the other. Follow these steps to charge the battery pack. 1. Grasp the battery pack's and the battery charger's connectors and push them together until they click to connect them. NOTE: The battery pack's and the battery charger's connectors fit together only one way. Do not force them. 2. Plug the battery charger into a standard AC outlet. 3. Charge the battery pack for 14 to 16 hours. CAUTION: Charging the battery pack for longer than the recommended time can damage it. 4. When the battery pack is charged, unplug the battery charger from the AC outlet. 5. Grasp the battery pack's and the battery charger's connectors, press and hold down the latch on the battery charger's connector, then pull the connectors apart to disconnect them. CAUTIONS: Always disconnect the battery pack from the battery charger by pulling the connectors. Never pull the battery pack's or battery charger's wires. Don't charge the battery pack immediately after use (while it is still warm). Allow it to cool first. Don't use the battery charger in wet or hot areas. Use the battery charger only in areas where there is free air flow. The battery pack and battery charger produce heat during charging. Don't use the battery charger as a direct power source for any device. NOTE: Occasionally, fully discharge the battery pack before you recharge it. Otherwise, the battery pack loses its ability to fully charge. IMPORTANT: Your Thunder Fox II uses a rechargeable nickel-cadmium battery pack. At the end of the battery pack's useful life, it must be recycled or disposed of properly. Contact your local, county, or state hazardous waste management authorities for information on recycling or disposal programs in your area. Some options that might be available are: municipal curb-side collection, drop-off boxes at retailers, recycling collection centers, and mail-back programs. INSTALLING BATTERIES CAUTIONS: Never leave a dead or weak battery pack in the Thunder Fox II. If you do not plan to use the Thunder Fox II for several days, disconnect the battery pack. Dispose of the battery pack promptly and properly; do not bury or burn it. INSTALLING THE THUNDER FOX II'S BATTERY PACK When the battery pack is fully charged, follow these steps to install it. 1.
