You may register your telephone with either or both carriers (normally done at purchase of telephone). For information about the roaming agreements which your home carrier may have with other carriers, contact the office of your home carrier. In some areas, the cellular systems will allow your telephone to roam automatically. In other areas, where the systems do not permit automatic roaming, you will have to contact the telephone operator before your telephone can roam; you will need to tell the operator your telephone number, electronic serial number (ESN), and how you plan to pay for calls. (There is usually an additional charge for roaming calls.) NOTE: Your ESN will be found in the battery compartment of the telephone. Using this menu function, you may select the roaming option required (eg, to give the optimum service coverage when you are in your home area, or in a non-home area). One of four roaming options may be selected: Home type: Telephone uses only the home system. Non-home type: Telephone uses only non-home system. DTMF DIALING When in a call, you can transmit information as a series of tones (eg, to interrogate answering machines). Two ways to send tones: 1. Key-in digits. 2. Recall a number from memory. 1. Key-In Digits When in a call, key-in the numbers to be sent. The numbers will appear on the display. A DTMF tone will be sent as each key is pressed. The length of each tone depends on how long the key is held down; use this method if you need to send long tones. 2. Recall A Number From Memory This method allows you to recall a number stored in a memory location, and send it as a complete number. When in a call, recall the number from memory on the display (ie, by pressing RCL following by location number). To send the DTMF tones, press F SEND or F 8. The tones will be heard and sent automatically. When storing DTMF numbers in memory: If you need to place a pause (2.5 seconds) between DTMF digits, press F #. If you want to add DTMF numbers to a stored number, place a wait character in front of the DTMF numbers to do this, press F # #. To recall and send a stored number which consists of a telephone number with associated DTMF numbers: Recall the telephone number onto the display, and press SEND to call the number (ie, which has been stored before the wait character). The number disappears from the display. Wait until the call is established, then press F SEND or F 8 (to send the DTMF numbers which have been stored after the wait character, and which were left on the display). DTMF tones are sent even if key tones are switched off and you cannot hear them. CALL FORWARDING Call forwarding is a system feature which may be available; contact your network carrier for further details. This feature allows you to forward incoming calls to another telephone. FLASH FUNCTION The flash function is a system feature which may be available; contact your network carrier for further details. This feature allows you to accept a second call when you already have a call in progress. (ALL-05/02/95)
