TFX-1030 (430-1202) Operation Faxback Doc. # 15123 SETUP PROCEDURE 1. Plug one end of phone cord into the EXT LINE jack on the fax. Plug the other end of the phone cord into the answering machine. 2. Plug the TAD into the wall. 3. Press AUTO RECEIVE until the indicator blinks. This sets the fax to automatically switch if it detects any fax tones. CHANGING THE NUMBER OF RINGS 1. Press FUNCTION. 2. Press 3. 3. Press 0, 1, and # in that order. 4. Enter the number of rings (1-7). 5. Press START/COPY. MANUAL RECEPTION 1. If you most often use the fax machine as a regular phone, select manual reception. To set your fax machine to the manual reception mode, press AUTO RECEIVE until the indicator is off. 2. When the phone rings, pick up the handset and talk as usual if it is a regular phone call. If the other party wants to send a document or if you hear a fax tone, press START/COPY and replace the handset. The POWER/IN-USE indicator blinks while the fax machine receives the document. When the fax machine finishes receiving the document, it sounds a long tone and then automatically returns to the standby mode. SENDING A DOCUMENT 1. Place the document (one page only) face down against the left side of the document feeder. Use both hands to slide the page into the document feeder until you hear the fax machine's feed motor start. The fax machine beeps. 2. Use the telephone you connected to the fax machine to dial the receiving fax machine's phone number. 3. When you hear the fax tone, press START/COPY to start the transmission. 4. After the fax machine sends the page, it sounds seven beeps. If you have additional pages to send, place the next one in the document feeder while the fax machine sounds the beeps. The fax machine sends next page. 5. To stop a transmission before a complete page is sent, press STOP. After the fax machine prints the report page (if you selected this option) press STOP again and remove the document. (IR/ir-04/10/96)
