Paging Module (430-0183) Installation Faxback Doc. # 15955 WALL MOUNTING THE PAGING MODULE You can mount the paging module onto a wall using two screws with heads that fit into the key-hole slots on the back of the paging module. Select a location that is near where the telephone lines enter your building. To mount the paging module directly onto the wall: 1. Drill two holes 2 3/8 inches (60 mm) apart. 2. Screw the two screws into the wall until each of the heads are about 3/16 inch (5 mm) from the wall. 3. Position the paging module over the screws and push it down to secure it to the wall. CONNECTING TO A SINGLE TELEPHONE To connect a single telephone to the paging module, plug the telephone's modular plug into the paging module's TELEPHONE STATIONS jack. Then, plug the paging module's cord into the modular telephone jack. If you have the older four-prong telephone jacks, or if your telephone is wired directly to the wall, you need jacks and adapters (available at Radio Shack stores) to update you wiring system. Or, you can ask your telephone company to update the wiring for you. NOTE: The telephone company can charge you for the installation of jacks. The telephone company might ask you for the USOC number of the jack to be installed. This number is RJ11C (or RJ11W) for a wall-phone jack. If you are unable to located either a modular jack or a connector block: 1. Locate where the telephone line enters the building. 2. At an interior wall, cut the telephone line. 3. Install a modular jack with wiring block (Cat. No. 279-349) to the incoming lines ("outside" side of the cut). 4. Plug the paging module into the modular jack. 5. Wire the "house" side of the cut to an entrance bridge (Cat. No. 279- 394). 6. Plug the entrance bridge's modular connector into the paging module. CONNECTING TO A PA SYSTEM 1. If desired, connect a music source such as a tape player or FM tuner to your PA system according to its instructions. 2. Use a phone plug to phone plug cable (Cat. No. 42-2373) to connect the paging module to your PA system. Plug the cable's phone plug into the paging module's TO AMPLIFIER jack. Then, plug the cable's phono plug into your PA system's microphone input. 3. If your PA system has a priority override switch, use hook-up wire (such as Cat. No. 42-2457) to connect your paging module's C and NO terminals (if your PA systems require a normally open switch) or your paging module's C and NC terminals (if your PA system requires a normally closed switch) to your PA system's PRIORITY contacts. If you have connected your paging module to the priority contacts on your PA system, then the music source is turned off during a page. Otherwise, your page is mixed with the music source. CONNECTING TO POWER Plug the supplied power adapter's barrel plug into the paging module's DC jack. Then, plug the adapter into an AC outlet. (llg/all-07/18/95)
