ET-400 DUoFONE Cordless Telephone System
(430-0550)                 Troubleshooting             Faxback Doc. # 16890

We don't expect any problems with the ET-400, but if any develop, try these
suggestions.

You have Interference from another Cordless Telephone

     - The ET-400 is available in four different operating frequencies. If
       there are interference problems from another cordless telephone in
       the neighborhood, exchange the current unit for a different
       frequency unit within 30 days of the date of purchase.

Doesn't Work

     - Check the AC power and telephone connections to the Base Unit.
     - Be sure the antennas on both units are fully extended.
     - Make sure the Handset battery pack is charged.
     - The security code was not properly entered or has been lost. Try
       entering it again following the sequence in the "To Enter the Code"
       section of ENTERING THE SECURITY CODE
     - Be sure the POWER switch is set to ON.

Hearing a Series of Beep Tones from the Handset

NOTE: When TALK PUSH HANG-UP is pressed, the security code is transmitted
       from the Handset to the Base Unit. If the Base Unit doesn't
       "recognize" the code the first time, the Handset will send the code
       several times before "giving up". If beep tones sound and then the
       ET-400 works normally, this is what has happened.

     - Out of communication range. Move closer to the Base Unit.
     - The security code has not been entered properly or has been lost;
       enter the security code following the sequence outlined in the
       ENTERING THE SECURITY CODE section
     - AC power to the Base Unit has been lost; make sure the power cord is
       plugged in.

The Range is Shortened

     - You are out of range.
     - The security code has not been entered properly or has been lost;
       enter the security code following the sequence outlined in the
       ENTERING THE SECURITY CODE section

Cannot Receive a Signal

     - You are out range.
     - The security code has not been entered properly or has been lost;
       enter the security code following the sequence outlined in the
       ENTERING THE SECURITY CODE section

Telephone calls are automatically switched and routed through a complex
network of equipment. Weak or noisy lines occasionally occur in the
telephone system and some calls may have to be redialed.
