Switch to (T)ONE or (P)ULSE (rotary) to match the type of service you have. NOTE: The phone company can charge you for the installation of the necessary jack. The USOC number of the jack to be installed is RJ11C. INSTALLING BATTERIES NOTES: The voice announcement feature requires batteries. But you can still make and receive calls when the batteries are low or dead (if the phone is connected to the line). Use fresh batteries of the required size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. 1. Use a Phillips type screwdriver to remove the screw from the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the phone. 2. Side off the battery compartment cover. 3. Insert two AA alkaline batteries (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552) into the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) inside the compartment. 4. Secure the cover with the screw. 5. Press RESET on the top of the base with the tip of a paper clip or a ball-point pen. NOTE: Reset the phone each time you replace the batteries.
