PGL-300 Pager (170-8001) Operation Faxback Doc. # 17646 USING THE BELT CLIP Your Personal Pager comes with a combination belt clip and holster. To use the belt clip, slide in the pager from the left side of the holster until it clicks into place. Press down on the top of the clip, slide it over your belt or pocket, and release the clip for easy carrying. Slide the pager to the right to remove it from the holster. PAGER ETIQUETTE Put your pager in the silent mode when you are in meetings, church, or the theater to avoid disturbing others with the audible tone. The silent vibration feature is also handy if you are at a concert or in any noisy environment where it might be difficult to hear the audible tone. TURNING ON THE PAGER Your pager has two alert settings -- silent and audible. Silent -- For the pager to vibrate when you receive a page, set ON/OFF to the black rectangular symbol. Audible -- For the pager to beep for 4 seconds when you receive a page, set the ON/OFF to the speaker symbol. When you set the pager to silent or audible, it vibrates or sounds for 4 seconds. After this, the standby display appears. TURNING OFF THE PAGER Set ON/OFF to the black dot to turn off the pager. When you turn off the pager, the standby display appears. RECEIVING AND READING MESSAGES When the pager receives a page, it alerts for 8 seconds or until you turn it off, depending on your selection. Press any button to stop the alert. The number of unread message appears on the display. Press FORWARD to display the most recent message received. Or, press BACKSCROLL to display the first message received. If > appears on the display, the message continues on the next screen. Press FORWARD to see the next screen. A message can have up to three parts, depending on which pager features you turned on. If you turned on the date/time stamp and user messages, the stamp appears on the first screen, the user message appears on the second screen, and the numeric message appears on the third screen. The time stamp has a special designation for urgent messages on the first screen: (A special character in the upper left hand corner of the display screen). NOTE: Function and I.D. codes might appear on the date/time stamp screen. See your service provider for information on function and I.D. codes. If you turned on the date/time stamp, but did not turn on the user messages, the date/time stamp appears on the first screen and the numeric message appears on the second screen. If you did not turn on the date/time stamp, but turned on the user message, the user message appears on the first screen and the numeric message appears on the second screen. If you did not turn on the date/time stamp or user messages, the numeric message appears when you receive a page. If the number is more than 12 digits, press FORWARD to see the rest of the number. The display automatically returns to standby mode after 10 seconds. Press BACKSCROLL or FORWARD to return to the standby mode sooner. NOTE: If you do not read a message, the pager emits a reminder alert every 3 minutes, up to 10 times. TONE ONLY MESSAGES If you pager receives a message without numeric characters, such as someone calling your pager and not leaving a message, TONE ONLY appears on the display. URGENT MESSAGE REMINDER If you receive an urgent message and do not read it immediately, the pager emits an urgent message reminder every 2 minutes. The reminder continues until you cancel it. Canceling an Urgent Message Reminder 1. Press BACKSCROLL or FORWARD to view the urgent message. 2. Press and hold down both BACKSCROLL and FORWARD until you hear a short beep. If you turned on the time stamp, UR disappears from the display. The reminder is canceled, but the message remains in memory (see "Deleting Messages" to delete the message). 3. Press BACKSCROLL or FORWARD to return to the standby display. DELETING MESSAGES You can delete an individual message or all the messages stored in your pager at one time. Deleting Individual Messages 1. Press BACKSCROLL or FORWARD until the message you want to delete appears on the display. 2. Press and hold down ON/OFF. DELETE NO-, the message number, and the message alternately appear on the display. 3. While holding down ON/OFF, press BACKSCROLL or FORWARD to delete the message. DELETED appears on the display, then the standby display appears. Deleting All Messages 1. Set ON/OFF to silent or audible. 2. Repeatedly press ON/OFF until DELETE ALL appears on the display. 3. Press and hold down ON/OFF. ARE YOU SURE? and DELETE ALL alternately appear on the display. 4. If you want to delete all messages, press BACKSCROLL or FORWARD. ALL DELETED appears on the display, then the standby display appears. If you do not want to delete the messages, release ON/OFF. (CS/all-10/26/95)
